Black screen ?

Hi I was recently on my laptop it was running fine then the whole screen just went black ? I rebooted it and its still doing the same I can see it showing some sort of light but I cant see anything the screen is not cracked , would this mean I need a new screen replacement or is the cause something else thanks

If you try use VGA/HDMI to get your screen to an other screen, is it just fine?

I connected it to my tv but I didnt know what key to press to get the screen to switch over

I also have to same issue on My Dell Laptop,
I figure it out that its led blacklit was not on/may be due to loose connection [But i am sure as I see desktop icon when flash light on Screen]
So I slap sometimes on back of screen i.e. dell logo and it's back
If you can't see anything , try removing graphics driver and install old working one !
