So in early 2007 I bought a 30gig Ipod Classic 5th gen. So it's well out of its warranty. Things were great until this last summer when the sound crackled and went away. Everything else was functional. I think at the time, I was googling the wrong stuff so i didn't think it was a regular problem and thought I was SOL. I gave it another shot and found that it was a known problem (freezing the ipod or pushing extremely hard on the bottom right corner brought the sound back for a moment). I called the product support line, got an agent and simply told him, "I read on the internet to call this number and speak to a product specialist [explained my problem]" The call took about 5 minutes. I got an Apple ID to take to the local UPS Store. They had it overnighted to them (I live in Eastern Washington) to California. This was all on monday the 1st of Feb. As of now, I am waiting for a FREE replacement that they are overnight FEDEXing me which will be here tomorrow. APPLE IS AmazaZING!!!
