So in early 2007 I bought a 30gig Ipod Classic 5th gen. So it's well out of its warranty. Things were great until this last summer when the sound crackled and went away. Everything else was functional. I think at the time, I was googling the wrong stuff so i didn't think it was a regular problem and thought I was SOL.

I gave it another shot and found that it was a known problem (freezing the ipod or pushing extremely hard on the bottom right corner brought the sound back for a moment). I called the product support line, got an agent and simply told him, "I read on the internet to call this number and speak to a product specialist [explained my problem]" The call took about 5 minutes. I got an Apple ID to take to the local UPS Store. They had it overnighted to them (I live in Eastern Washington) to California. This was all on monday the 1st of Feb. As of now, I am waiting for a FREE replacement that they are overnight FEDEXing me which will be here tomorrow.

    APPLE IS AmazaZING!!!

**** Apple. My MacBook pro 17" screen broke (yes, it was my fault) and I knew I had Apple care on the laptop. I walk into the Apple store hoping they will replace the screen (like IBM did on one of my thinkpads for free) or for a small fee (200-300). They inspect the laptop for about 3 seconds and tell me they can replace the screen for the generously low cost of $1200-$1300. I am not even joking, they actually said that. I pretty much told them that the laptop isn't even worth that much (2007 intel core 2 duo) and that they can go suck my ****.

I refuse to ever buy something from Apple again. The prices just keep going up and from MY experience I've NEVER had good service with them.

The laptop is now useless without an external monitor, so basically is a desktop...

depends on the problem you had with it. Do some research, if it's a known manufacturer fault, they will fix it/replace it for free. Mine was almost 2 years out of warranty.

I love my macbook pro, all of my ipods have never had a problem. I personally think they are a great company who manufactures good quality stuff but sometimes overprices them.

    Congratulations on the new ipod.

Meh, I bought a Video cable to play movies on my TV for my 80gb Classic, over the years my classic got outdated so I bought a 160Gb then I play a movie with the video cable on the new one but apple made it so it doe not work with the new classics intead you have to buy a special dock to play movies, Cheap-o's
    Thats just my opinion.
