I personally use Avast! Free Anti-Virus. It's very good, just as good as you get from a paid anti-virus. I would recommend this or AVG if your prefer the free kind but if you are paying then i was recommended 'ESET Smart Security' from a friend, he said it's unheard of but VERY good.

DO NOT USE NORTON ANTIVIRUS !!!!!

    Norton.

AVG slows down the computer after it detected the virus.

Ohh well your anti-virus doesn't really matter.

Common sence is normally the best defence against viruses.

    ?

Common sence means when you are downloading music/videos make sure it is .mp3/.mp4 or if you are downloading a savegame make sure it is a .svg and never download an .exe file unless you are planning on downloading a computer file.

Avira Anti-Virus, with COMODO Firewall, and Malwarebytes is one of the best combinations for free.

If you want your computer to be locked down like a vault: Kaspersky
If you want your computer to be secure, but still perform well: ESET Nod32
