Just turning on my 360, haven't used it in over 1 year...Everythings fine in the dashboard, I can play arcade games, but when I put a disk in, right away 3 red lights blink.

    / \
\ /... So I shut it off, turn it back on, and the disk drive make a loud screeching noise, disk isn't scratched. The game starts, and bam, the same 3 red lights again...But as long as I'm in the dashboard everything is fine...

    What gives?

There are certain error codes for that... It's a certain button sequence to make it show up...

Here's a video, ignore the weird rave music.

    What is your code?

Try unplugging the power supply cable from your 360 and from the wall. Then reconnect it as tight as you can.

    Try your game again.

Its dust accumulated in the drive and the thermal paste(GPU chip)

i had the same problem, dust is an insulator.

    X-clamp fix your xbox:wink:

By applying some new thermal paste in the chips you should be fine with fixing the 3rrod.
