Solved 2015 Phat RROD Repair/Prevention

Do people recommend using the x-clamps or the screw+washer trick for RROD repair/prevention? A while back, I got some repair kits from xbr depot which came with a plate spanning the CPU and GPU with thermal pads to wick heat from below the motherboard. It also comes with thermal pads for a few other components.

Bottom line: It seems like there hasn't been much discussion on RROD repair lately, likely becuase people either fixed theirs already, or moved to slim.

None of that will actually prevent RROD. Screws and washers flex the motherboard which makes things harder when it comes to actually repairing it. It can lead to things like a reball only lasting a short while to not even working at all. I personally always put back the stock x-clamps back on any repair that I do and haven't noticed it affecting anything at all.
