I currently have all 3 subclasses maxed out already and 252 power at the time I wrote this. The raid will need you to be around 300 light. So Far it seems the fastest way to level up (suggested after the first character so you have a sparrow) is to play public events until you are 20 then do all of the story then do the Cayde-6 treasures you get for completing campaign so you will have nearly all legendary pieces. Dismantle every piece of gear you will not need or use to get as many parts as possible then sell them for more legendary while trying to farm only 1 planet (this will allow you to get more Tokens) so you will get more legendaries and parts.

Main tips:
- Do not play solo (even if you are playing with randoms)
- Try to only farm one planet
- Focus on story (mainly for your first character [Red missions not orange])
- Play heroic public events

- Use fast travel to save time (you can not be on a mission when you fast travel)
- Check your map legend and make sure to do all of the extras. (regional chest/lost sectors)

How to get 265+ the fastest! (harder but guaranteed easy 280 drops)
1. Complete story (you will automatically become 20 after)
2. Join a clan (free legendary gear [this step comes at any point])
3. Complete all exotic quest (gear now drops by highest maximum light even if that is by exotics)
4. Start grind nighfall/crucible/tokens

The easy way to get past 265!
1. Farm one area
2. Collect tokens
3. Delete any unneeded gear
4. Turn in those tokens
5. Get lucky
6. Infuse exotics with blue gear!

Why are you just farming tokens?? When you get legendaries you have a chance of them dropping with +5 light than what they are showing. Saving your low-level exotics for blues is the best. Why? because they get +5 light when infusing them with a higher blue!

What to do after you finish your weeklies/raid/nightfall?
Simply grind more nightfall!
Why?
Nightfall drops more legendary/exotic gear and legendary and exotic gear has a higher chance to drop above your current light.
I suggest using a Fireteam medallion and helping people on the LFG

What do the tokens do exactly? Are they good for one legendary when you level to 20 or can you keep going back after you accumulate so many of them?

I played pretty much all of yesterday, so im pretty sure i know what im talking about. But someone correct me if im wrong lol.

Tokens are turned into each Reputation NPC of each planet and they help you level up. Every time you level up you get a engram package.

Yes this is correct you will be using these tokens after you are level 20 to continue getting legendary gear frequently.

Ahhh ok bet, makes alot more sense to stick with a single planet once you reach 20. Currently lvl 12 on my first character, LOVING this new warlock class, i was a little annoyed they cut sunsinger that was my goto class. 2 sticky grenades + resurrect.... The good ol'days.

The tokens are used for leveling up NPC characters. They will drop legendaries. It usually takes about 40 tokens to level up once though.

Even with Destiny 2 I still have no friends. I had to play with randoms since the game came out... Now all I do is sit in the tower 2.0 on destiny 2 looking at randoms cause I'm bored.

Tell me about it. I have had to take it to this forum and gamefaqs for support for everything destiny related... It hurts at the end as the people who do end up helping me at the end never ask to be my friend...

It will probably take me another 2-3 months before I can even do the first raid on destiny 2 as nobody wants me... I've just finished grinding on destiny 2 since it came out and now I am level 20 with light level 258... All on my own and I'm actually really bored right now. I would love to actually have a fireteam right now but ehh...

Yeah I have been just doing all of the extras on the planets (lost sectors and hidden chest) actually have 100% on all planets I have all of the weekly request done, and making a new character is so slow I can not even get past the first mission.

Okay so i am at 270 light on my main now. I made a second character, but im not sure whether I should max out my character (with other gear), or start campaign first and finish it

I was wondering the same thing I came to the conclusion to make a second character to run the raid with. More chances at higher power gear meaning your 3rd character should just need infusion.

Hey, I'm up to 260 now on my main but I've been having trouble finding 260+ drops, I find the majority of stuff I find out and about or in quests are 260 blues with the occasional 265 legendary. Where would you say the best place to get 260+ loot? Would you still say just stick with heroic publics and farming for coins on one planet?

Doubling over to a secondary character is what people have been suggesting. What they haven't been telling you is to play night falls multiple times as it can drop easy exotics and legendaries. The best way to truly get past 260 is completing your weeklies and grinding night falls. After you obtain a legendary 265 weapon you will want to put a damage booster on it. The secret to get to 280 light is to take your low light weapons and gear and infuse them with blues after you start getting 266+ blues (this will take a while).

Yea I've begun doing that now. Do legendaries get higher if you infuse them with a blue thats lower than them? I finally completed the nightfall for the first time last night, at my highest im at 268. If I can find a 270 or higher scout rifle for my midas i'll be like 269-270.

You can grind the nightfall more than once? It was rough as hell the first time through lol, i guess if its worth it I'd run multiples, thankfully I'm higher light now so it'll be a little easier. My only alt is a titan, currently at 241 with 265-270 weapons on it and like 220-230 armor. Can't infuse up anymore, but is there a cheap way to boost alts? I still have all the quests for exotics but I plan to wait until after my titan is 260 to start them so I can get high level exotics.

It's clear to see who the students/unemployed are on this game.

There's people on my list that haven't stopped playing since it came out... & here I am, stuck at work like a fkin schmuck only able to play 2 hours last night (I only got the game yesterday after work) and only at level 8.

FML, I wish they were releasing the raid a week later so i had time to get all 3 characters ready at the weekend or something.

I'm actually hoping they get that Keygen working, that thing was a lifesaver for Destiny 1
