Next month's Xbox update will allow new features on the machine to be utilized that have already been used in the PS4. However, some of these new features may require the purchase of additional hardware. One feature involves an Xbox 360 external drive type set-up, which will be limited to the required USB 3.0 standard. Each external drive used must have a capacity of 256GB or higher; you will have the option of connecting two of these devices. A second plus is that you will be able to use your real name instead of using your Gamertag and there will be an auto log-in option when starting your console. Names for friends on your friends list is an added ability and you can choose how to view friends as well as friends of friends, however, your account followers can only see your Gamertag.

Going further, this update will allow an account to use applications like Netflix without getting Gold, which accounts for a $60 price that they decided to refund to the people who had bought Gold for the services mentioned (see spoiler below). Games for Gold will be launching via the hub coming in June that Xbox has created. OneGuide will be opened for more areas of the earth, Spain, Germany, France, United Kingdom, Canada, and Italy are the countries. Coming out with the updates mentioned, you will not have to re-download your save data at another location with an Xbox One that has a formatted hard drive with your account content on it, and you can play the games you have from your Xbox on any console if it's saved in the external drive. SmartGlass will enable the ability to view your TV listings in the app use live recording together with the complete OneGuide; along with other add-ons this will allow Xbox One owners to use SmartGlass for universal remote control. Lastly, players will have the ability to get notifications regarding their friends through PC, tablet or phone, which is taking a stab into the social media realm.

The PlayStation 4 is currently priced at $399 and the price drop of the Xbox One has left it at a cost of $399 without the Kinect. Just to note, some say that because people may prefer the lower price of the Xbox One as opposed to owning a Kinect, games meant for the Kinect may barely thrive. Now that the X1 and PS4 are the same price, which one will get the more purchases when potential-buyers compare them knowing that the services offered are similar? Sony having better GDDR5 over Microsoft's DDR3 is what a lot of people think of, and observation shows that games run better with the different specs that PS4 was sold with. Is Xbox One having better social functions plus media abilities going to be more of a coup de grâce when thinking of the future in the market? Not to mention, the "double performance" update in a year will be something to be aware of when purchasing decisions are made.

Refund Information:
"Once the Xbox One and Xbox 360 system updates become available in June, Xbox Live Gold members who purchased a paid membership before that day can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused remaining days between the date of cancellation and the date their paid Gold membership ends." They said in another parapragh, “Cancellation and pro-rata refund requests must be made by August 31, 2014 and require six to eight weeks for processing. Free or trial Gold memberships are not eligible for a refund. To request your pro-rata refund, please click support.xbox.com/contact-us after the system updates become available in June.”*
