Today, IGN has stated that the Xbox Corporate Vice President, Marc Whitten, revealed that the Xbox One will be able to fully function regardless of if the Kinect 2 is plugged in or not. It appears that Microsoft continues to pull reversals on some of the Xbox One's initial policies that were shown at its original reveal, back on the 21st of May. The only drawback is that if you don't utilise the Kinect sensor, you won't be able to use the features that come along with it.
Since the Kinect 2 is no longer necessary for the Xbox One to function that means that it is possible for a separate, cheaper bundle that wouldn't include the Kinect 2. I'm sure this is good news to all people who don't want to use the Kinect 2, for whatever reason they may have. A cheaper bundle may also be great news for everyone who is disappointed by the Xbox One's steep price, only time will tell if we get a cheaper option.
