As you may already know, Warframe will be one of the Free-to-play model games that will be coming to the PS4. The team behind it, Digital Extremes, are trying to get the game to 1080p, 60 frames per second on the PS4, but there is also something else they are trying to do: allow PC and PS4 players play together on Warframe!
Here is what their Creative Director was quoted saying when he went to talk to Sony about this:
This is a non-issue from Sony on their part, so there is a large chance that we might be seeing a cross-play version of the game; which will be released in the first year of PS4's launch. I'm personally pretty excited about seeing this on the console and getting the ability to play side-by-side with PC players. This espically will be great for people who don't have beefy rigs to play with their PC friends. So what are your thoughts about this?[Creative Director Steve Sinclair] told Sony at the show that he wanted Warframe to be updated every week or two weeks, and that players would be able to team up with PC users using cross-platform. They agreed no questions asked. It surprised Sinclair as he initially feared there would be many political hurdles blocking his team’s ambition, particularly when cross-play was concerned. It was a non-issue for Sony.
