Ustream Support For PlayStation Being Terminated

Earlier today, Sony announced that they would be terminating all support for the broadcasting application, Ustream, after August 1 of this year. "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your understanding," Sony said. This comes after nearly three years of support for the application on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and the PlayStation app. Sony also went on to say that although the official shutdown is August 1, the date "may shift" depending on your local region.

Ustream support was originally confirmed for the PlayStation 4 in 2013 and was one of the first streaming services made available upon the release of the PlayStation 4. The termination of Ustream support means that broadcasting gameplay to Ustream along with viewing Ustream broadcasts from Live from PlayStation on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and the PlayStation app will no longer be an option.

Sony gave no definite reason behind cutting support for the application, but went on to say that they would continue support for other popular broadcast applications such as YouTube, DailyMotion, and Twitch, all of which will also still be available on the Live for PlayStation app. You can find the official article about the termination on PlayStation's website through a support notice located here.

With the other three broadcast applications still in action, are you happy to see the application leaving PlayStation for good? Or are you sad to see support for Ustream go? Let us know in the comment below!
