Well it appears that there have been a few setbacks for the Twitch app, one of the new predominant features for the Xbox One. Today, Microsoft announced that you are only able to watch streams that are currently available. They have said live streaming will not be available until an undisclosed time in 2014.

"We know the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay is something the gaming community is excited about, and we are too. We are working to ensure the initial Twitch on Xbox One broadcasting experience meets the expectations of the Twitch community, so while this feature won’t be available right away, we’ll let you know as soon as it is ready." as said on Xbox Wire.

This absence of this feature will definitely cause some disappointment to the Xbox One community, especially since the console is set to launch in three days. But don't grab your pitchforks yet, because features like Snap mode, instant switching and media achievements will still be available on release day. Xbox One users will still be able to record their gameplay and upload them to Xbox Live or their own SkyDrive account, so you should have a number of things to do (hopefully) until the broadcasting add-on is released.

On the PlayStation 4 version of Twitch.tv, it appears that everything is going well and that the live gameplay feature is live and running with fairly positive results. Twitch Community Manager Jared Rea stated that "We’re stoked at what we’ve accomplished so far, but we’re not stopping here, We’ll be working with Sony in the months and years to come to improve and enhance this feature to make it as great as possible."

The Xbox One will be available this Friday. The Twitch app will also release on Friday and will be available to Xbox Live Gold members.

So what are your thoughts on this development? Were you planning to use the live streaming feature? Does this help give the PS4 a slight advantage over the Xbox One? Please let me know in the comments below.
