In a recent interview with IGN, Robert Kirkman, the creator of the critically acclaimed media franchise The Walking Dead, revealed some details for the upcoming third season of Telltale Games' The Walking Dead. The interview largely talks about The Walking Dead: Michonne and how that series continues to elaborate on Michonne's story, but Kirkman also noted how The Walking Dead season 3 will be "checking in on Clementine again."
Kirkman went on to detail how the timeline of season 3 will work, with the setting of the game coming up closely to the setting of the comic book series. Kirkman explained, "Season 3 of the Telltale series is really exciting to me, just because the way that the timeline works . . . the books that are coming out now are roughly in the same time frame that season 3 will be in."
Season 3 of Telltale's The Walking Dead will show more of Clementine, but it will show her at an older age than what fans of the series have seen thus far in season 1 and season 2, since season 3 will have caught up to where the comic book series is currently. Season 3 will also bring on more comic book elements, similar to what The Walking Dead: Michonne has done and Kirkman mentioned that the Telltale series and comic book series will basically go hand-in-hand, more so than they did for season 2.
With the timelines of these two different stories catching up to each other, there is a greater opportunity to tie these two stories together, or even show a cameo of a character from one series into another. At any rate, the upcoming third season for Telltale's The Walking Dead will feature some more of Clementine, as well as other surprises on the way that Kirkman did not want to spoil.
Season 3 of Telltale's The Walking Dead is set to release sometime in 2016, with more details of the game and its release likely coming this summer.
