Valve's popular free-to-play shooter Team Fortress 2 is getting another update this week, and it contains more than just tweaks. A brand new contract system will see the light of day, handing out 2 new challenges each week over a period of three months. These contracts consists of skill based challenges and an advanced-level objectives worth bonus points. Completing these will award players with unique weaponry or unlockable weapon cases, all campaign-exclusive tools of destruction with new paint jobs and also the familiar different grades of wear, from Factory New to Battle-Scarred.

To access the event and get your hands on these new goodies, you will have to pay up, because you know, nothing is free in this world, $5.99 will get you the Campaign Coin you need to get started. It is worth to note that this money will not go directly into Gaben's pocket, but some of it will be used to pay the members of the community that made the three new maps included in the update. The free additions in the Gun Mettle Update includes Powerhouse, a new three-point capture point map, community-made maps Borneo, Suijin and Snowplow and you will also get a few community-made taunts and some new achievements. And don't forget the inevitable long list of smaller gameplay changes, all found here for those of you who would like to take a closer look.
