I hope you Battlefront fans are ready for some interesting news! During Europe's recent Star Wars Celebration, Niklas Fegreaus, Design Director at DICE stepped forward to reveal some exciting new content the development team will be gracing their fans with in the coming months. In addition to the upcoming Death Star expansion pack, DICE revealed a small Summer update will be coming, along with the title of the game's final DLC.

Starting off with the new game mode, DICE has finally responded to player’s requests for additional offline game modes for them to enjoy when they don’t feel like playing with other players. Coming on July 21, Star Wars Battlefront players will be able to enjoy Skirmish, a new offline game mode that will allow players to play solo missions against bots. Players will be able to run the mode solo or with a friend via co-op split screen if you’re on a console. Skirmish can be played at any difficulty, but is restricted to two modes, Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron. This is just the beginning for the updates DICE has planned for the Summer, new Hutt Contracts, weapons, rewards, and trials will be coming very soon.

Moving on to one of the most anticipated DLC’s for the game, Death Star has caused excitement and complaints from the Star Wars Battlefront community. Many believe it’s just EA’s tactic for abusing their love for the Star Wars franchise to earn as much money as possible before the game dies out. Many gamers wish space battles, a feature coming in the Death Star DLC, should have been a day-one feature of the game and while they’re right, that’s a discussion for another day, so let’s get into the content coming in the September update.

The first thing DICE was excited to introduce in the Death Star DLC beyond the long-awaited space combat are the two new heroes, Chewbacca, Han Solo’s lifelong partner and Bossk, the Trandoshan bounty hunter. Their abilities haven’t been revealed yet, but fans can’t wait to have Chewie finally fight alongside Han as they blast their way through the Imperial forces. As for the space battles, combat will take place in and around the Death Star, which allows players to re-enact Luke’s infamous trench run from Episode IV.

In addition to the highly-anticipated space battles, the Death Star update will be coming with new vehicles, weapons, and additional Star Cards for players to use and master. In-depth details of all of the content coming in the expansion will be revealed at a later date, so stay tuned for more.

Last but not least, DICE have also decided to reveal the title for their fourth and final expansions for Star Wars Battlefront. Titled Rogue One: Scarif, this expansion pack will be based upon the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One movie, and will be released early 2017. The only known details about the final expansion, is that it will feature new Heroes based upon the main characters in the movie, along with a new planet featured in the film.

This new content sounds exciting and I’m sure many Star Wars fans can’t wait to get their hands on it! Stay tuned to the Homepage for more Star Wars Battlefront updates!
