Sonic is definitely a character that millions of people can identify without a doubt in their mind. For those of us who've enjoyed the original side-scrolling sonic games, it's time to rejoice. Sega has come down from the 8-bit Sonic heaven with a gift to bestow upon all of meager souls awaiting a quick a platform to speed through. On February 2nd, the Japanese Sega Networks YouTube channel uploaded a very interesting video.

The newest Sonic the Hedgehog game will be available sometime during Spring of 2015, no official date has been shared. Sonic Runners, the name of the new game, will be a free-to-play title available on Android and iOS devices. Although the actual game will be free-to-play, it is undoubtedly going to be a "freemium" game. For those unfamiliar with the term, it simple means that the game itself is free, but people can (and most likely will) spend real money to purchase in-game items to improve their experience. There was no further information available regarding the types of in-game items that will be available. You can see that there will be in-game purchase by taking a look at the Sonic Runners website.

If you haven't noticed, the trailer for Sonic Runners doesn't actually show us any gameplay of the new game. However, it does greatly hint that the game will be another 2D side-scroller (like many of it's predecessors). According to Famitsu, playing Sonic Runners will be rather easy. The player will just be required to tap the screen to make sonic jump, as he runs on his own (gotta go fast!) Like many other side-scrolling Sonic games, you'll be able to play as different characters and of course, fight Dr. Robotnik.

Are we going to see some sinners playing Sonic Runners when it comes out in their local app store? Or are you guys going to give it one way ticket to no thank you? Let us know in the comments!
