A little over a week ago, Sony announced their long awaited video game streaming service Playstation Now, Would have its open beta slated for a July 31st release. Prior to this, Playstation was running a closed beta with a few participants. The response from those participants so far has been astounding regarding the service.
For those of you who don't know what Playstation Now is, Its the video game equivalent of Netflix. Users can select to rent a game for the duration of 1 day, 1 week or 1 month and the game will be streamed to their consoles rather then a traditional hard copy rental. The pricing for the service has been stated to range anywhere from $2.99 to $19.99 depending on the title you are renting and the duration you will be renting it for. A down side to the PS Now is that the user will have to have a relatively good internet plan since the games are being streamed to you.
Playstation Now will be able to stream games from the Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Playstation 3 and maybe in the near future the Playstation 4. This service will be available on both the Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 and will also soon be released for the Playstation Vita. Playstation Now may even be available for the newer Sony Bravia TV's!. The service will also play a big factor in the newly announced Playstation Tv. The open beta will arrive with over 100 titles for users to rent and some of the more noticeable titles consist of the following,
- Dead Space 3
- God of War Ascension
- Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
- Ratchet & Clank Into the Nexus
- Ultra Street Fighter IV
