Sony's PlayStation blog has announced today that the PlayStation 4 and all associated bundles would be getting a price drop in North America. This has been rumored and hinted at since the price drop it received in Japan during the Tokyo Game Show, as well as an accidental leak from major retailer Target. Sony has stated that the price drop will be applied tomorrow, October 9, with PlayStation 4's starting at a new price of $349.99 USD ($429.99 CAD).

Sony has also released the pricing information for all of the bundles currently available in stores, with the new prices listed below.

U.S. Dollar Price Listing:
  • The Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 bundle will be available for $349.99, reduced from $399.99.
  • The Star Wars Battlefront PS4 bundle will also be getting a $50 price reduction, starting at $349.99. The Limited Edition version will be available for $399.99 down from $449.99.
  • The Limited Edition Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 1TB PS4 bundle is going to be sold at a price of $429.99 instead of $449.99.
  • The Limited Edition Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars PS4 bundle will be lowered to $399.99 from $449.99.
Canadian Dollar Price Listing:
  • The Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection PS4 bundle will be available for $429.99, reduced from $449.99.
  • The Star Wars Battlefront PS4 bundle will start at $429.99, as well. The Limited Edition version will be available for $469.99 down from $549.99.
  • The Limited Edition Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 1TB PS4 bundle is going to be sold at a price of $499.99 instead of $549.99.
  • The Limited Edition Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars PS4 bundle will be lowered to $469.99 from $549.99.
  • The Canada-only NHL 16 PS4 bundle is going down to $429.99 from $449.99.
The price drops will likely be permanent, as Sony has not stated when or if at all the holiday sale will expire. The console has received a permanent price reduction in Japan, so it is likely that the price drop will be permanent everywhere else.

As for anyone in Europe, you can hope for many Sony-related announcements coming up at the Paris Games Week at the end of October, with a console price drop in Europe being very likely if it is not released earlier in the month.
