You might have heard this one before, but guess what: Overwatch is getting another free play weekend for anyone who hasn't purchased the game on PC. Between July 26-30, anyone with a Blizzard account will be able to download and play Overwatch on PC for free. PS4 and Xbox One owners are left out this time, but judging by the company's history, you'll probably get another free trial before too long.
The free version will come with 18 maps and all 28 heroes, including the newcomer Wrecking Ball. Modes like Quick Play, Custom Games, and Arcade will be available. As you participate in matches, you can level up and unlock loot boxes that contain things like new costumes, voice lines, sprays, and emotes for the heroes. If you buy Overwatch after playing the trial, your progress will carry through to the full game, provided you use the same Blizzard account.
The free play weekend kicks off July 26 at 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET / 19:00 BT. For the start times in the rest of the world, you can consult the map below.
To get the game once the trial begins, you'll need to download Blizzard's Battle.net desktop app and log into (or create) your Blizzard account. Then just click the Overwatch icon on the left side of the app, select your region, and click install. After that, you're good to go until the trial ends on July 30.
Wrecking Ball, Overwatch's newest hero, is set to debut in the game on July 24. Piloted by a hamster, Wrecking Ball is a giant, well-armed mech that can roll quickly around the battlefield. Anyone who owns Overwatch on the PC can try out the character on the Public Test Realm now. Blizzard is also planning to tweak several other Overwatch heroes in the near future.
If you have further questions about Overwatch's free play weekend on PC, you can consult the FAQ on Blizzard's website.
