A new gameplay trailer was released today demonstrating some of the features of the upcoming survival-horror game Noct. Noct is a 2D, top-down shooter game played in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with the entire world being viewed through thermal vision. It is being developed by Indie developer C3SK and published by Devolver Digital who also published the Hotline Miami series, another top-down shooter.

Noct will pit players against an ancient evil, known as Nocturnal, that decimated the population of the planet and left the survivors to defend themselves against the terrors that remained in its wake. The gameplay trailer that was released shows off the online multiplayer that the game will support. It also emphasizes how the game is about the player's survival and whether or not they decide to work together with other players, or betray them to collect their supplies. It also uses music composed by Wordclock and Robin Finck, the guitarist for Nine Inch Nails, and hints at how atmospheric the game will be. You can listen to the full theme here.

Noct will be released on October 22, 2015 for an unannounced price. Will you fight together, or will you fight for yourself?

Looks great. I hope they add an element where a friendly can be cloned and replaced by a monster, so they look identical, and the player needs to distinguish the monster from the real player. You don't know if you got the real player or not, so it can turn at any second.

You should try suggesting that to the developer on Twitter. That's an interesting mechanic and I think it would fit in the game, see if C3SK feels the same about it!

Ummmm, noct is the Greek root for "Night". Nowhere near German. Not to 1-up or anything.
