Night Terrors - Turning Your House Into a Nightmare

Imagine a game that morphs your environment into a terrifying video game. This is exactly what Novum Analytics is trying to accomplish with their upcoming augmented reality survival horror game, Night Terrors. Unfortunately, you can not play this game while hiding underneath your sheets. Instead, you must use your mobile device to discover the digital terrors that are placed very carefully throughout your home or apartment. The story is extremely straightforward, find the little girl and survive the night. Let's take a deeper look into what could possibly be the most terrifying mobile game of 2015.

According to Night Terror's Indiegogo page, the game will be available first on the iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6, 6+. Unfortunately for us Android and Windows Phone users, development for these platforms will begin after the initial release on Apple devices. Either way, it will without a doubt be worth the wait. Novum Analytics has developed a unique and complex system to make the game seem as realistic and horrifying as possible. Some of these components include point-source modeling and intensity scanning, which allows the map to be created cleanly and smoothly. The developers are most definitely using advanced technology to their advantage.

What makes this game different from other mobile horror survival games? Well, the answer is actually quite simple. Unlike other games such as the Slenderman and Five Nights at Freddy’s series, Night Terrors uses practical and more realistic effects as opposed to computer-generated imagery. Apparently, “The camera and microphone feeds are analyzed and processed in real time.” This is another example how the developers are using technology to develop a more horrifying experience for the player. With that being said, every element in your environment can cause some kind of reaction. Below, you can watch the trailer and witness some of the fantastic effects that have been implemented.

The developers have raised approximately $40,000 from almost 2,500 donators within the last month. Although the team behind this nightmare only consists of four members, we can expect something spectacular. Both David Franco, an AAA award-nominated music and sound composer, and Wolfgang Muchow, a award winning screenplay writer, are working alongside two other developers with this project. Hopefully this game lives up to its' expectations, but we will have to wait until next February to see for sure.

Personally, I am more than exhilarated for the release. I love mobile gaming and I love horror. What are your thoughts and opinions on this upcoming horror simulator? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
