His exact words were: "What we announced before today was that we were going to offer 10 maps on launch, and that’s still true. The announcement today is that the six remaining maps we are actually going to be delivering to anyone who purchases Modern Warfare Remastered, anyone who owns it or a version of Infinite Warfare that comes with it, they’re going to get all 16 of the maps for no additional cost."
So the question is, what does that mean? He does outline the difference between owning the game as with Infinite Warfare and just owning the remaster alone. It can easily be assumed that he refers to the fact that will we find the remaster available as a standalone title at some point, free to buy without having to help boost sales of Infinite Warfare. It's not like it is unheard of for Activision to promote exclusive preorder bonuses, only to release the content separately at a later date. So there's no wonder that this statement helps support the suspicion many have, that the game will eventually be available alone. However, if this holds true, we should not expect it to happen any time soon. At best in a few months after release maybe?
Many fans of Modern Warfare has voiced their dissatisfaction towards the fact that their much wanted remaster is locked in with the purchase of the new Call of Duty title. They are not interested in space warfare, and would prefer to get their hands on the remaster without having to buy a product they have no plans to use. As much as this rumor can give these players some hope, the support page on Activision's official site seems to crush their both their hopes and dreams:
It remains to be seen if these answers will change or not, but personally I would expect to see a debunk from Activision in the very near future. But then again, you never know, do you?
