Internal Valve Leak Shows L4D3 and Source 2

Adding to recent speculation and rumours an internal leak at Valve indicates that Source 2 and Left 4 Dead 3 are in the works. Last month we saw a website pop up, l4d3.ru, and that website showed a countdown clock to the Left 4 Dead 3 announcement, as well as the Source 2 logo at the bottom of the page. Since then evidence has emerged showing that the site is indeed linked to the Valve Corporation.

The l4d3.ru website has been subject to DDoS attacks in recent weeks but it has remained online and it appears that the site will keep going until the clock hits zero.

The internal leak shows a change log on a screen at the Valve offices, in the images above and below you will see a line showing the following: “[Source2] Restored L4D3’s devtest unit test. Ran locally 6 times without an asset”, it is hard to read when it is quite blurry but I believe that it what the line says.

This obviously indicates that testing is under way at Valve HQ. Will we see an announcement later this month when the countdown hits zero? I guess we will have to wait and see.

I am looking forward to this, if Source 2 and Left 4 Dead 3 are in the works then this means all hope for Half Life 3 isn’t lost. Are Valve capable of releasing a game with the number three in the title? What are your thoughts on this? Please share them below.
