In a few days GTA Online will be released, offering millions of gamers the chance to explore the enormous city of Los Santos with 15 other players. As many people are claiming that multiplayer is the predominant feature of GTA V, gamers can only hope that GTA Online lives up to expectations. However, the multiplayer will go live with only a limited number of game modes, with more coming in the future.
When GTA Online starts, you will be able to participate in various missions and jobs, hold up stores and engage in a variety of races and recreational sports such as golf, tennis, base jumping, shooting ranges, etc. Co-op heist missions and "Capture the Flag" will be introduced at a later period of time. On top of that, "The Beach Bum Pack," which adds over 300 new items, will be added to the game and the Content Creator will follow suit sometime after launch. The tool will allow for the creation and customization of deathmatches races, and other modes.
"We are planning for a constant stream of new content, tweaks and updates in the weeks and months ahead," Rockstar writes. "The first couple of weeks we expect to be heavily focused on tuning the experience as it goes from internal testing to the reality of being played by tons of people in the real world so that all the usual teething problems for an online game are overcome. We hope it will all run incredibly smoothly, but please bear with us if it doesn't, and help us fix any and all problems!"
Rockstar has also confirmed the addition of microtransactions. With this, you will be able to buy packs of in-game money with your real money. It will be a completely optional feature, yet a lot of players may be skeptical on people "paying for an advantage". We will see how this takes effect on the online portion when it begins.GTA Online will launch on October 1st, 2013
I believe that Rockstar is making the right choice for releasing content at a later date. This will help improve functionality and not put too much stress on the game all at one time. I am not really too keen on the fact that players can buy in-game money as it has always been a controversial trait in most games. Although this won't ruin the game, it will be frowned upon indefinitely. Enough with my opinions, what are your thoughts on this development? Do you agree of the content being pushed out later and do you plan on buying in-game cash? Please be sure to let me know in the comments below.
