This years Game of the Year award has been awarded to the record breaking game - Grand Theft Auto V. Grand Theft Auto V is the fastest selling video game of all time, as it smashed a total of 7 records; including the fastest video game to gross 1 billion dollars. The game took roughly 275 million dollars to produce, with the initial cost quadrupled within just 3 days of the games release. It's predicted that Grand Theft Auto V will sell an additional 25 million copies over the coming year. But, I disgress...

For those of you who don't know, the Golden Joystick Awards are designed to celebrate the best video-game creations over the previous 12 months. The ceremony is one of the oldest and most prestigious events in the industry's calendar as each year hundreds of game publishers meet with hopes that their game has what it takes to win an award. This year the event took place in London, England, and received a record breaking 10 million votes! There's a plethora of awards that a game can receive. For example, there's 'Best Online Game', 'Best Gaming Moment', 'Best Mobile / Tablet Game of the Year' and many more!

This year, Steam beat rivals Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to achieve the 'Best Gaming Platform'. Other winners included The Last of Us, which won 'Best Newcomer' and 'Best Storytelling', and Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was awarded 'Most Wanted'. Finally, not forgetting you CoD fans, Activision's: Call of Duty has been added to the Hall of Frame. The full list of winners can be found below:
