Gears of War 4 doesn’t launch until October 11 (or October 7 for Ultimate Edition buyers), but you can begin pre-loading the files now. And, depending on your internet speed, you might want to consider it.
The Xbox One file size is confirmed to be nearly 55GB, while the Windows 10 version will be even larger – 80GB. The Xbox One version is available to start pre-loading immediately. The Windows version will be available to start soon, although no exact date or time has been announced.
Considering a Blu-Ray disc holds “only” 50GB, these files are indeed enormous. If you want to begin play when the game launches, it seems pre-loading is the way to go.
Naturally, this feature only applies to those who’ve pre-bought the game. If you’re holding out until launch day for one reason or another, you’re going to spend some serious time watching a progress bar fill in while your friends are having all the fun.
