
With the momentum building for the beta that will be beginning in just twelve short days, Microsoft and The Coalition have finally announced on their newswire the official worldwide release date for Gears 4. Since the new Gears was announced back at E3 of 2015, everyone has been patiently awaiting any sort of news or details that could bring to light what direction the game would go in, and when it may be available for beta or release. With early Access for the beta kicking off on April 18th, we now also know that we can all immerse ourselves back into a brand new Gears universe when Gears 4 officially releases on October 11th 2016.
Along with reporting the release info, the devs have also revealed what the game’s cover art will look like, which can be seen in the spoiler below. It features the three main characters in the middle of a heavy storm that will be a key element to the game’s campaign. Rod Fergusson, studio head of The Coalition talked about the cover art when speaking to Entertainment Weekly, stating the following quote. Also if you look closely at the art, the main protagonist from the original Gears trilogy, Marcus Fenix, makes a cameo as a statue in the background.
The upcoming beta for Gears 4 begins as Early Access on April 18th, and will then be open to all Xbox Live Gold members on April 25th. Officially ending on May 1st. With this new installment into the Gears series opening the door for a whole new storyline to take place, the franchise now has a fresh opportunity to kick down the boundaries and tear up anything in its path with the ole reliable Lancer chainsaw.Gears 4 will be headed exclusively to Xbox One on October 11th 2016.
