Dishonored 2’s New Game Plus mode won’t just let players replay the game with the powers they acquired the first time through — it’ll allow them to combine powers from both protagonists.
The feature will come to Dishonored 2 on all platforms next Monday, Dec. 19, in Game Update 1. Arkane released a beta version of the patch on Windows PC today.
Completing Dishonored 2 with either Corvo Attano or Emily Kaldwin will unlock the New Game Plus Mode. On a subsequent playthrough, you’ll still have the option of selecting either of the two protagonists to play as, and you’ll start the game with all of the runes and bone charms you collected previously. More importantly, though, you’ll also be able to pick and choose from both characters’ abilities by reassigning runes.
“Dishonored players have asked for it, so now New Game Plus is here for Dishonored 2,” said creative director Harvey Smith in a blog post from Bethesda. “If you've ever wanted to make higher-powered characters, now's your chance. If you’ve wanted to play Emily Kaldwin with Possession or Devouring Swarm, or Corvo Attano with Domino, now you can. We’ve been having fun with it here at Arkane Studios, and we hope you will too.”
Another previously announced addition, custom difficulty settings, was also supposed to arrive in December. However, it has been pushed back to January, when it will be released in Game Update 2. That patch will also introduce the ability to select missions and replay them, which was included in the original Dishonored but is currently unavailable in the sequel.
