DICE Reveals All New Content Coming to Battlefront in 2016, New Update Coming Tomorrow

It’s been a long two months since the initial release of EA’s galactic shooter Star Wars Battlefront. During this time, players received the free Battle of Jakku update which increased the scale of destruction on the battlefield by bringing down a massive Star Destroyer mid-battle. This action packed update left players wondering what DICE had stored away for their next update for the game. All throughout 2016, players will receive free content updates which will include multiple new maps and game modes. Some of the upcoming content will take players to new locations in the Star Wars universe, including Bespin and the Death Star, just as long as they purchase the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass to gain access. Players looking to stay on the free route can expect new content no later than tomorrow. Here’s what to expect.

The first part of the update will allow the Tatooine Survival map add additional support for the Blast, Droid Run, Drop Zone, Hero Hunt, and Heroes vs Villains multiplayer modes. In addition to this, players who unlock the Heroes Luke Skywalker or Han Solo while playing on Hoth will be able to use the brand new, Hoth-themed outfits which were unlocked for all players due to the community’s participation in last month’s community mission. Also being released tomorrow, are brand new in-game features which will allow players to participate in Daily Challenges and Community Events. These community-based events are geared towards having the Battlefront community come together as one to reach goals as a collective, which will help everyone unlock in-game items faster, and earn more credits. Now for those of you who’d rather play with your friends only, DICE is introducing Private Matches. The perfect way to get away from battling with random players and keeping things they way you like them

The free content doesn’t end there. February and March are approaching fast, and along with them, more free content. In February, DICE will be introducing a brand new Survival mission on Hoth, a new Hoth multiplayer map with is aimed at supporting some of the game’s “larger” game modes such as Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron, and Turning Point. In addition to this, Turning Point will be added as a playable game mode for all maps that support the Walker Assault game mode in the February update. In March, an additional multiplayer map will be added on the planet Endor which will support the Walker Assault, Supremacy, and Turning Point game modes, and an additional Tatooine Survival map.

DICE has also revealed a few details on what to expect if you decide to purchase the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass. You can see the details of the upcoming content below:

  • Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Outer Rim (March 2016) - Fight among the factories of Sullust and battle within Jabba the Hutt's palace on Tatooine

  • Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Bespin (Summer 2016) - It's hunt or be hunted in this action-packed experience set in the Cloud City of Bespin

  • Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Death Star (Fall 2016) – That’s no moon! One of the most iconic locations in the Star Wars universe makes its debut in Star Wars Battlefront.

  • Star Wars™ Battlefront™ Expansion Pack 4 – Title TBA (Early 2017) – We will have more details to share about this exciting new expansion pack in the coming months.
You won't have to purchase the Season Pass to gain access to the content listed above. Each update will be available as a standalone DLC you can purchase separately from the others upon their release. You can expect a 2-week wait from the announced release dates as Season Pass holders will be receiving early access.
