In this week’s This Week at Bungie — the studio’s weekly blog — Bungie revealed a bundle of small changes headed to Destiny 2 with season 6 and the Joker’s Wild expansion this March.
One of the major focuses from this week’s update was the game’s ever-changing clan system. In the Season of the Drifter, clans will be become a hybrid of the Year 1 and Year 2 system. Clan experience will be gained for doing various activities out in the world, and will now be the primary way to level up your clan.
However, weekly clan bounties will remain a staple part of each week’s rotation. Hawthorne will sell a PvE, PvP, and Raid focused clan bounty each week. Not only do these reward legendary gear like usual, players will also get a large amount of clan XP for completing them.
As the clan levels up, the rewards from these bounties will get even better — with rank three and four offering mod components and enhancement cores respectively. Max level clans will get a fourth bounty to complete each week.
Exotic catalysts will also be making a return in season 6. Clans who reach rank five will have an increased drop chance for strike and crucible catalysts when completing those activities with clanmates.
While new catalysts won’t be added to the game right when season 6 drops, Bungie does plan on releasing new ones before the season’s end from their “Year 1 reserve.” So don’t expect a catalyst for Two-Tailed Fox or any of Forsaken’s exotic arsenal.
Finally, Bungie outlined some important changes for players who aim to increase their level as quickly as possible once Joker’s Wild drops. The final keys from the Last Wish raid — Ethereal Keys — will only be able to stack up to five in Season of the Drifter. Players will no longer be able to stack up as many keys as they want and dump them for powerful gear the next time a power boost comes around. Iron Banner bounties will also expire when the new season starts.
The Season of the Drifter and Joker’s Wild will be released sometime in March. Until then, players will have Destiny 2’s Crimson Days event, starting on Feb. 12.
