The decline of the Crash Bandicoot franchise started when Activision bought the license from Naughty Dog. The resulting game was average to say the least: Crash: Mind over Mutant received only 6.9/10 from IGN's review. However, this 'average' score sparked two die-hard fans to bring back to life this fantastic franchise with in a thrilling new game named Crash Bandicoot: Crystal's Wrath.
Personally I've never been a fan of fan-made games, but when I saw this game I knew it was going to be special. Why you ask? Maybe it's because Crash was the first game character that I liked, maybe it was because I wanted a new Crash Bandicoot game based on the original games made by Naughty Dog, or maybe it was because of it's extremely good graphics for an independent game made by 2 developers named PatStrikesBack and JumpButton.
So far we don't know much about the game. We don't know the story, whether there will be boss battles, or if there will be a warp zone. However, we do know the most important part: Crash is back with current generation graphics and the original 'basic but fun' gameplay. This game has definitely got potential, and could be exactly what the franchise needs revive some of its lost popularity after the transfer from Naughty Dog to Activison.
