How to Rehash and Resign Game Saves using CONcept
Welcome to my guide, I’ve seen plenty of people struggling on rehashing and resigning game saves from this site, and putting them back on the HDD without getting a “corrupt” save come up.
I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and I have UAC turned off, which is a must so you can drag your files back onto the HDD.

Before we start;

If you are running on Vista, you will need to disable UAC, which is the thing that pops up asking if you want to run the .exe file. To do this you have to go into the Control Panel >User Accounts and Family Safety>User Accounts>Turn User Account Control On or Off;

uac2.png

Untick the box, and restart your computer now.

What you will need;
- A Data Transfer Kit
- A PC/Laptop with CONcept
- Xport360
- A good guide to follow :wink:

Here is a link to Xport360 and CONcept (All in one Folder)
-Rapidshare Link
-Megaupload Link

Getting Started
So to start with all you need to do, is plug your transfer cable into a functioning USB slot on your Laptop or PC. Let it install the drivers if it is your first time.
Next what you need to do is find where you have Xport360 installed, right click it and select “Run as Administrator”...If you have done this correctly, then you shouldn’t get the “Do you want to run this program?” message and it should load up straight away.
Hopefully if your HDD has installed correctly you will see this box pop up (I am using my 20GB HDD, yours may vary). Click Ok and continue

xport1c.png

From there you should be able to see in the left column that is has put the name of your HDD in it. Next click the name, or the + next to do it, to expand the drop down menu. The partition you want is “Partition 3”. Expand that and you will a new set of menus.

xport2.png

Next, you need to click the name of “Content(User profiles, saves, etc)”, this is where ALL your profiles and game saves and DLC is kept on your HDD.
Now depending on how many profiles you have on your Hard Drive, you will see that many appear in the next list of menus.
What you need to do, is keep opening all your profiles, until you work out which one is yours, the best way of doing this is opening each profile, and checking which games have been played, for example my main profile has a fair few games on it, but I remembered the NEWEST game I played was the Game Room, and I haven’t done that on any other profile.

xport3.png

Next what you need to do, is find a game save, it doesn’t really matter which one, but for this example I will use my Fifa 10 Gamesave. So what I do, I find the one that says (Fifa 10) and click it to expand it. I then keep expanding until I find the final folder which contains all my saves.

xport4.png

In my example there are several files in the one folder, some games just have one, but if your simply using someone elses gamesave, all you have to do is check the name of their file, for example mine is simple and is the “settings” file.

modified1.png

This is where I stress, you DO WANT TO MAKE A BACKUP of your ORIGINAL file, just incase you do go wrong, or you choose the new savegame isn’t what you want, you can simply just drag it back in before.
Next what you simply want to do, is drag your “savegame” file somewhere safe.

xport5.png

Opening CONcept;
Next what you need to do, is find where you installed CONcept, right click it, and “Run it as Administrator”. What you should see is something like this;

con1.png

Next click the “orb” in the top left corner which will open the drop down menu. Navigate to where you saved your ORIGINAL file, the one you dragged from your HDD.

con2d.png

What you should see is your own Profile ID and your own Device ID, and on the right in the basic container information it should display the correct game.

Saving YOUR ID’s;
This is where a lot of people seem to go wrong, if you do this correctly all you have to do is do it once, and you will not have to do this for any future gamesaves you wish to use.
All you have to do is click “Save ID Set” and it will come up like this.

con3.png

From this point your ID’s are SAVED. You have three different “Custom ID” slots, for other profiles, if you followed this guide exactly, your current ID’s will be saved on “Custom ID 1”.

Loading the “new” gamesave;
Next all you have to do is click the “orb” in the top left corner again, select open and choose your MODIFIED gamesave which you downloaded.
Now the ID’s for this modified Savegame may be “000000”’s or the original owner may have left theirs in, either way it doesn’t really make that much difference.

con4.png

All you have to do now, is quite simply press “Load ID set”. And voila, your own ID’s are loaded onto the gamesave. BUT THAT IS NOT ALL. Next you have to press “Rehash and Resign”, you can do them one at a time, rehash and then resign, but I always do them together just to save time.

con5.png

As you can see in the status box it should say “Rehashing/Resigning Complete” if it does then you are ready to put it back onto your HDD.

Placing it back on your HDD
Now the important part, is that you put the “modified” gamesave onto your hard drive, not the “original” one you dragged off your Hard Drive initially.

So hopefully you still have Xport360 open, with the folders open again with where you got your original file from. From there, choose your “settings” file in my case, right click it, and choose DELETE. Yes I know this is intimidating, you losing all your hard work, but it is fine, you have it backed up :biggrin:!

Next all you need to do is drag the “modified” gamesave onto where you got the old file from.
Sometimes it will do it quickly, sometimes it will do it slowly. I know on mine, it actually freezes when it copies it onto the hard drive. BUT DO NOT PANIC. Do not click or even touch anything! It will unfreeze itself, and the job will be complete. From there all you have to do is disconnect your HDD safely and put it back in your xbox, and enjoy your new gamesave.

A Small Note;
Some gamesaves come with their own instructions in a notepad file, it is important to read these as it will tell you how to “work” the gamesave, some of them require you to load them a certain way, or some will require you to do something ingame before you can get it to activate properly. Some are pretty simple as just loading the game up.
If you have any questions for me, feel free to post them here, or PM me, I will try and help you as much as possible, but if you do get errors etc then please give as much description what you was doing when you got it ^_^ .

Also if anyone wants me to upload Xport360 and CONcept to something other than Rapidshare and Megaupload, please tell me :smile:...I also do realize now Rapidshare only has a 10 download limit, so I may have to re-up.

Thanks, Ocelot.

It was mainly for someone who was struggling and was PMing me, I thought if I was going to make a guide I might aswell make it public for other people to get use out of anyway instead of just making it for one person :smile:.

Edit: Infact, interestingly enough, I just did a search on "Concept" in the Xbox 360 Tutorials section and there was NO results. Strange.

Edit 2: It also seems theres no FULL GUIDE, that I can find myself strictly on how to use CONcept, I found one person who had a problem using it, and hopefully this guide can bring more help to people who just search for "Concept guide" :smile:.

Yes, this can replace Modio. :wink:

Modio has a plethora of programs, this is just the single one, so really you should look into Mod Kit for example, but this program is extremely useful, and quite straight forward once you get used to it, hopefully this will help many to come in the future :smile:.

OK so I've downloaded CONcept, but just like modio when I rehash/resign it says 'key is not valid for use in specified state. by doing them one at a time I know that its the resigning part. Help?

Are you saying you downloaded a video on your xbox, then put it on a USB stick, and now want it on your PC?
