![]() | MS to demo Gears 2, Halo Wars and Xbox Experience at PAX Microsoft has unveiled their booth's demo schedule for the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo (PAX), confirming that they will show off Gears of War 2, Halo Wars, and the new Xbox Experience. Also, Project Origins will be demoed, and there will be a signing session for Gears 2. Apparently there will be more to play on the show floor, but you can check out the demo schedule on Microsoft's official PR blog here. PAX is going to be held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center from August 29th to the 31st. Read More... |

| Re: MS to demo Gears 2, Halo Wars and Xbox Experience at PAX I know what he's talking about. Right now the only provider that has inked anything with Microsoft has been British Telecom. The whole idea is to use the Xbox 360 as a IPTV set-top box. In AT&T's setup, the TV signal can be passed over a CAT5e ethernet cable, and all that the 360 needs to act as a Set-top box is a software update. You can't do this with cable or FiOS because cable uses a QAM signal and FiOS uses a hybrid QAM/IP signal, with the IP signal carrying On-Demand content. AT&T uses IPTV for both standard TV and On-Demand. FiOS might go all-IP, but it will take a while. It can also act as a DVR because of it's hard drive, I believe the IPTV plan was one of the reasons they decided to make the 120GB drive with the Elite. | Re: MS to demo Gears 2, Halo Wars and Xbox Experience at PAX It's completely possible for cable to be run over a CAT5e cable (though you'd need a signal amplifier along the way because of signal degradation). Many cable boxes have ethernet ports on the back to use as DOCSIS modems, but the cable companies disable them. Verizon used to run CAT5e cable for box-to-box communication (Whole home DVR) but they now use MoCA because it allows more bandwith without the signal degradation.
