EA: 'Madden Cover Won't Change'

If any of you have clued into ESPN at all the past couple of weeks there has been a lot of drama going about betwen Quarterback Brett Farve and the Packers organization and whether or not he'll play. We'll as of this morning, Farve was traded to the New York Jets and Chad Pennington was released by the team only hours later. Big mistake or golden opportunity? We'll leave that for you to decide.

Right now, however, we are here to discuss craziness and what will happen to the cover of this years Madden 09 title. MTV Multiplayer decided to find out what the deal was in this direction. Apparently EA Sports will not re-issue packaging for the game. What will they do though? Read more to find out...

Ironic for any NY Jets lovers out there

My brother and I were just talking about it (while playing Madden 09

) and i thought for sure they would change it

There would be no way to change it in time for the release though, it comes out tuesday and they would have to have all copies shipped back, swapped out, then shipped out to stores

On the games start page there is a huge picture of Farve. They can change that

no they cant? there are 2 choices

1. They would have to then ship out new discs, it would be the same process

2. It COULD be possible through a HUGE update, but then the game would look poorly made, as the cover would be different than the game itself, and the game disc would be different than the content

They would not do option #1
For option #2 it is not hard to change the main pic. It is only a single file that needs to be changed and it would be a system update for the game

And then the game would look poorly made.... did you not read that part?

Imagine this, you have a case with Farve, a disc with Farve, then a menu with Owens.... the game would look shoddily made, and look like the game has less quality.

IN ADDITION TO, the fact they would have to sign another player, then pay that player

They're not going to change anything. Just bad luck for Brett Favre.

I just wish he would have played for the Vikings.....That's like a slap in the face to the Packers.

They weren't going to trade him to the Vikings. Plus if the Jets do they owe the Packers 3 first round picks.

Yea just saying though if somehow he did go there that would be one of the funniest things ever. The Vikings are good, but damn our Quarter Back sucks so much **** its not even funny.

And I just heard on ESPN that they will be making a downloadable cover with Favre in a Jets jersey, along with a roster update for when the game comes out.
