SID has weird glitches in it when FTPing from what I've seen. If you feel comfortable in uninstalling SID and installing Krayzies, I would definitely try that and see if you still have the problem with the automatic IP address.

Addendum

Ok...I tried it with the new Krayzies...same effect. Looks like I need the hub connected to the 'net to get it to work. Will try that next, and give an update when I do so. Once again, thank you for all your help.

Sorry, I've never messed with a hub before. I don't see why you are not getting a network address... If anything, I would go out and get a decent router. There use to be routers for sale everyday... SlickDeals.net [Home] - Your Daily Source for the BEST Deals on the Net! shows all the local sales.

Maybe b/c we don't know what you've done and you're answers are 1 small sentence so we have no clue what to help you with. You can't say help...when I see help, I don't even try since you didn't put enough effort into telling us whats wrong, that you didn't put enough effort into finding the answer yourself. All you need is here on the site, its a matter of not being lazy and looking for it.

He means that when he is attempting to install the linux mod to his xbox it is not loading (i know because i had the same problem to begin with) initially it just shows a red bar at the bottom of the screen and it just flashes like a thousand times literally,
I think when i tried to solve this problem i just kept turning my xbox off and then back on
if that doesnt work i dont know what to do man.
It takes like a half hour too..Patience is the key

Help Me ok i have a hardmodded xbox Xecuter 3 and i have ftped all my other xbox's (soft Mod) but not this one it says connection refused... im running windows 2000... HELP PLEASE

Well...finally got myself a router and the cable needed for it...and I got it to work perfectly. Turns out that my ethernet driver had been...sorta deleted, or something. Don't know how it happened, but I know it did. Sucked royally...as I had to fight with the fricken thing and DELL to tell them that it was missing...and had to search forever and a day to find it. But once I got it, and my router...piece of cake. Great tutorial, btw. If you follow it exactly...it works just like a charm folks. Not hard at all.
