How to Softmod your Xbox with SID 4.0

Im using MA and under the sid4MA folder it just says Run Linux. I looked at the pic in the tutorial and the SC has Linux Profile. Are these the same thing or am i missing something?

I've tried several times and it continues to open halfway. Could it be some malfunction with the tray itself? Since I'm not too sure, I'll describe the process, maybe I'm doing something I shouldn't be doing.

Here it goes: As soon as I press the eject button, the tray comes halfway and returns in, then I press eject again to get the disc out, I pull it out turn it off and on, and I end back to the same intro and blank screen.

@Bud, the tray action is normal...Idk why you keep getting blank screens though. Try hitting the eject button to turn the Xbox on.

@outcast, Yes, same thing, different game.

The main thing I want to do with my mod is play emulators and backed up games, would evolutionx make things easier or should I just stick with unleash?

Tried again hitting eject and powering off and on, but I still get the same screen. I thought I mention that when the tray opens, it doesn't even allow me enough time to pull the disc out, it comes close to half but not quite. Also just in case it helps, the light is not green at the moment.

Please see if this new info helps. I'll keep trying different things meanwhile, thank you.

I'm in the US. However, I downloaded SID 5.01 and followed the same process and this time I had success with the soft mod. I'm already experimenting with the different possibilities that Unleash X allows.

Glad to hear you have it working. All dashboards can be installed with AID4 if you can find a download for it.

ya i downloaded sid 4. i transfered the install file and splinter cell ntsc file on the memory card. i transfer it to my xbox and save it. i start up splinter cell and click start hame then i click linux then checkpoints but once i click checkpoints my screen goes black and the eject button on my xbox goes oronge. i retried and it doesnt load. please help me

Make sure you dont have any other splinter cell gamesaves on your Xbox when trying this...

ok i retried with another sid and it worked and now i have unleashx. thanks for the great tutorial.

my led light is red, is that bad. oh and how do you ftp skins to your unleash xbox

I 1st wanted to say thanks,

I read this entire thread (all 50 pages) and then felt confident enough to install the latest SID on 2 consoles.. I then compiled the latest XBMC and converted that over as the main dash.. Every thing works perfect!!

The only area I am in need of help is with upgrading the HD, I was able to take a old 250GB hard drive from a dead xbox (my son has killed 3 xboxes in 3 years) and reformat it with Xboxhdm to make it work in one of the new softmoded consoles. The problem I have is that I clearly saw when Xboxhdm created the new F partition it showed just about the entire hard drive but when I booted it in the xbox, the F partatition was far smaller.. I was able to boot to UnleashX and format partition G to include the missing hard drive space..

I would like to know what I would need to do different or maybe did wrong, I have 2 500GB HD's for 2 more softmoded consoles and I would like to be able to set those hard drives up so I can put the majority of the drives space on just the F partitions and not use the G partition at all..

I assume maybe the issue is due to bios that SID v5.01 installed and it does not have the larger size hard drive enabled?

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Have you read through the SID pdf file? I think they have instructions in there for upgrading your hdd with a softmod.

Well I changed over to Krayzie's Ndure Installer 1.1.1 as that had a option to flash so partition 6 can take the entire drive larger drive..
