| Senior Member | Unban Your box From Xbox Live Unban Your Xbox From Xbox Live This tutorial is for Xbox only. It will NOT unban your account. It's for replacing your banned EEPROM. A banned EEPROM is a result of Microsoft's detection of a modchip or flashed firmware. Without a working EEPROM you CANNOT play live. This tutorial isn't designed for Xbox versions past 1.1. It works with all other versions, but requires installation of a new EEPROM chip and isn't worth the hassle. First you need to check what version Xbox you have. You can do this here: http://xbox-scene.com/versions_1.php Now to get unbanned you need to purchase a new xbox EEPROM (pal or ntsc). Steps for installing it are listed below. IT WORKS. Just make sure your orginal MS info is correct and your modchip is turned off. GETTING THE EEPROM FILE FROM THE UNBANNED XBOX (TO INSTALL YOUR EEPROM, MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING CONFIGMAGIC FINAL. ALL OTHER VERSIONS ARE BUGGY AND WILL CAUSE PROBLEMS. ALSO, DO NOT USE THE SOFTWARE: EEPROMER) [This is only if you want to backup your original eeprom file] 1. In EvolutionX, do the "Backup" command in the Utilities menu. It will generate files about your Xbox specs. 2. FTP in your Xbox, or use a file manager tool, and in C:Backup, you will find a file called EEPROM.BIN 3. FTP that to your PC HD or remember its location for future reference. SETTING UP THE FILE FOR CONFIGMAGIC FOR THE BANNED XBOX: 1. Once you have Configmagic loaded onto your HD or on your PC, there will be a directory in it called DATA. 2. Move the EEPROM.BIN file, the new unbanned EEPROM you purchased, into that DATA directory, overwriting the EEPROM.BIN file that is already there. 3. If you are making a Configmagic CD, you can now make the ISO of it and burn it. Xbox HD users, don't worry. RUNNING CONFIGMAGIC: 1. Load up Configmagic. 2. A warning screen will be shown, press "A" to bypass it. 3. When Configmagic finally loads, it will show your current EEPROM on your Xbox. Make a note of the DVD KIT ZONE and VIDEO AND XBE REGION information. "NTSC, Region 1" for US Xbox gamers "PAL, Region 4" for UK Xbox gamers 4. Select "LOAD XBOX EEPROM" in the menu. 5. Select "UNLOCK HD" in the menu. 6. Load the EEPROM.BIN file in the DATA directory by choosing "LOAD EEPROM FROM .BIN FILE" 7. If you see that the VIDEO AND XBE REGION information is different, you MUST change it. Go into the menu and choose "ON-THE-FLY EDIT EEPROM". Change the VIDEO AND XBE REGION number to the proper information of your former EEPROM. 8. Now, select "UPDATE XBOX EEPROM" in the menu. 9. Your Xbox's EEPROM will now be updated with the file in the DATA directory.10. In the menu, select "LOAD XBOX EEPROM". You will notice your EEPROM is now different! Success. 11. Select "LOCK HD" from the menu. 12. Select "EXIT CONFIGMAGIC" in the menu. IMPORTANT TIPS: - If you were using the XBOX DVD KIT to play DVDs, and the Xbox gives an error about region, load up Configmagic and change the DVD KIT ZONE number to the number of your previous EEPROM. UNLOCK the HD, choose "ON-THE-FLY EDIT EEPROM" in the menu and simply change the DVD KIT ZONE number. Then, UPDATE XBOX EEPROM and LOCK HD. Exit Configmagic. - You can view any Xbox EEPROM using your PC by getting Liveinfo PC program. It will show all the details of an EEPROM.BIN file. You might find it easier to edit any possible changes to your DVD KIT ZONE or VIDEO AND XBE REGION using the program, rather ON-THE-FLY EDIT EEPROM in Configmagic. - Sometimes, with a PAL EEPROM, your Xbox's time might be wrong or video settings will be different. Go into the MS dash and change the settings to the way you seem fit. Special Notes: - If you were banned with your original eeprom, once you replace your eeprom, you will need recover your account. To do this, simply select the account recovery option. Once this is done, you will need to verify some personal information in order to retrieve your account. This tutorial was made by oz_wilbur

| Senior Member | Re: Unban Yourself From Xbox Live No because once you have a new EEPROM, it's like a fresh start. Your cache is cleared of all feedback and things of that nature. There are way too many members on Xbox Live for Microsoft to actually keep track of specific people like Bungie does. The EEPROM is what allows you to go onto live in the first place. It's sort of like an ID to get inside a club or a bar. |

| Guest | Re: Unban Yourself From Xbox Live AND this is is the wrong section. But where I want it to go is somewhere besides xbox tutorials. Ill let another mod move it. You can only run Evox on a regular xbox, and there is no eeprom on the 360. So you just contradicted yourself. Last edited by ForrrestMaster; 10-05-2008 at 01:04 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

| Novice ![]() | Re: Unban Yourself From Xbox Live 360s dont have EEPROMS.... Im moving this to Xbox Tutorials If the account gets banned replacing the EEPROM wont unban it, then you just have a banned account on an unbanned EEPROM.... B-Rad.... you should probably do some research on this subject... There is a "master list of gamertags" that are banned essentially, the only way to unban your account is to sneak into Microsoft and manage to access the server and unban yourself, or hope their server fails *which has happened before* |

If someone has an Xbox that can't run live and they want to fix it, why not. Last edited by B-rad; 10-05-2008 at 03:53 PM. |

| Junior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live if u are lucky enough to have a 1.1 xbox you can actually flash the eeprom chip with a new pasword as for eeprom replacment good luck have u seen your eeprom chip and the connections it has to the mobo lol its not a simple task it requires a steady hand and even more soldering skill than installing a modchip then there is the task of actually aquiring a new eeprom ,and getting one that you know the eeprom code so you can create a hd to go with it is even harder i have seen sets on ebay of hd's and eeprom chips but they were selling for 30-50$ so at this time its pretty pointless to even consider trying a new eeprom since you can go buy a new xbox for 30-60$ if the xbox was banned sell it to someone thats not into live (most people that buy moded xbox's now dont care about live from my experince and i sell at least 1 a month) and go pick up another one insted of freting over being eeprom banned also at this time about the only way i have seen people get their original xbox banned is from hardmods(and y would anyone waste money on a mod chip ,unless they want to install linux i guess) or from having a larger hd installed withot genrating a hd key when making the new hd (that happend to me lol and it happend only after i left the xbox on for 16 hours straight while connected to halo 2 ) |

| Senior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live Always contradicting someone Forrest. Sometimes you have to, but where would they get it.... think about that real hard. You don't have to go buy an xbox just to get a file. People sell them all the time. Just like people sell their old xboxes because they upgraded to the 360. |

| Junior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live [quote=B-rad;854997]Your a little confused. All Xbox Live does is ban your EEPROM file. It's fairly easy to do if you read the tutorial. yes but that file is linked to the actual eeprom chip (you can change your eeprom file on the hd itself but then your xbox will no longer be able to unlock the harddrive wich will render the xbox not working unless you have a mod chip and then you will still have no live) so in order to fix your xbox with any motherboard other than the version 1.1 (wich allows you to actually flash a new code onto the exsting chip) you will be required to find a eeprom chip and solder in place of your old one then you have to create a new harddrive and lock it using the new eeprom code it would be feasable to have done this when original xboxes were still 100 $or more but now its cheaper faster and less hassle to just go buy a new one im mean what it takes a whole 5 mins to mod a new xbox or the 30 mins or more it would take to solder the 20+ tiny pins that connect the eeprom to the motherboard im not bashing your tut it is good info to know but also outdated info(out of the 20 xboxes i have purchased in the past 3-4 months none were version 1.1 most were1.6 or 1.3 most of the 1.1 xboxes were recaled because of the fire isshue that the xbox had at release so if you have a 1.1 xbox that still works good for u ) i learnd all this info quite some time ago when trying to unban a xbox the same tut had been posted here (it was a little more indepth and included ss of each step also)but again like i said using config magic on a eeprom only will work on a version 1.1 motherboard xbox any version higher that that does not allow the eeprom to be flashed with a new code Last edited by discgolfer72; 10-06-2008 at 06:25 PM. |

| Senior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live Just trying to add to the pile of information already posted. I never had the banned EEPROM problem myself but I had heard about it and knew a little bit, not much. I came across this tutorial and thought it might come in handy for someone. |

| \_si-ni-kel\ ![]() | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live Seeing how 360's dont even have EEPROM I dont think this tut was even worth posting. If people still mod h2 most do it on the 360 (that I know of) so EEPROMs wouldnt even matter. |

| Junior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live with the 360 its kinda not worth moding no old map mods on the 360 (unless you want to hotswap)no way to use yelo and y mess up your 360 by moding it id rather lose my 40$ xbox by it being banned than risking flashing my 360's drive and geting it banned(but alas i guess most of the people that dont care about losing their 360 are the people that momy and daddy will go buy them another after being hounded for a new one ) b-rad you should add to your tut saying that it will only work with 1.1 xbox's unless you actually replace the eeprom chip itself Last edited by discgolfer72; 10-07-2008 at 06:01 PM. |

| Senior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live That wouldn't be good if someone wasn't aware when they bought a new eeprom and then ended up having to buy a new chip as well, wasting time and money. |
