| Junior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live as for having to open the xbox to tell version there is a tut here that tells you how to fid what version xbox you have by the serial number on the bottom i cant seem to find it but im shure if forrest reads this he can link to it and doeboy im not trying to argue im trying to help him make his tut a complete comprensive tut so people dont get frustrated when trying to flash the eeprom with configmagic like i did after reading the tut that had been posted a long time ago(i ended up just having to buy a xbox from someont that did not have sound and then soldering on its eeprom to my mobo wich is not easy lol) Last edited by Scar; 10-09-2008 at 07:47 PM. |

| Senior Member | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live Use these two tutorials but be weary of the update coming November 19th. No one knows what it will be capable of so make sure you get the 411 on it when the time comes. Make sure you read this one first: http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/xbox-360-discussion/92794-flashing-your-xbox-360-beginner-faq-please-read-first.html Then use this one to flash it: http://www.360mods.net/index.php?nam...=details&id=61 Last edited by B-rad; 12-26-2008 at 01:27 AM. |

| Novice | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live Earlier in the thread I noticed a user post about changing the HDD to unban yourself from live. For one thing, that simply will not work. But something else came to my mind that's even more important that seems to be missing from this tutorial: If you're replacing your EEPROM to unban yourself from Live, you need a virgin HDD as well. When an Xbox connects to Xbox Live, Microsoft "marries" your EEPROM to your HDD (or vice versa). You can only connect to Xbox Live with this original married pair. You can not mix a paired/married EEPROM with a HDD from a different couple (so to speak; and once again this is true the other way around). So with that said: Banned Married EEPROM "A" + Married HDD "A" = No Xbox Live Banned Married EEPROM "A" + Unmarried HDD "B" = No Xbox Live Banned Married EEPROM "A" + Married HDD "C" = No Xbox Live Unbanned Unmarried EEPROM "B" + Married HDD "A" = No Xbox Live Unbanned Married EEPROM "C" + Married HDD "A" = No Xbox Live Banned Married EEPROM "A" + Married HDD "C" = No Xbox Live Unbanned Married EEPROM "C" + Married HDD "C" = Xbox Live! Unbanned Unmarried EEPROM "B" + Unmarried HDD "B" = Xbox Live! (upon successful connection, both become married-- Xbox Live will continue to work until the Unbanned EEPROM becomes banned) The EEPROM is tied to the Serial Number of the HDD. In theory you could change the serial number of the HDD, but I do not know how to go about this, nor do I know of any tutorials. But as you can see, the only way to truly unban yourself from Xbox Live is to replace BOTH your EEPROM AND your HDD with an EEPROM and a HDD that both have NEVER been logged into Xbox live, and with an EEPROM that isn't banned. Mixing and matching unbanned HDDs and EEPROMs never work unless it's the original married couple. If I am incorrect on this, feel free to correct me.. This is just how I remember it to be a few years ago when I was deeper into Xbox modding. |

| Novice | Re: Unban Your box From Xbox Live Hmm. Well I did a bit of digging for what initially gave me that idea, and according to the chart in the following thread (which is much more complete than my own), you should be banned if using an unbanned EEPROM with a banned HDD: The Current State Of Live Bans, All Bases Covered - Scenyx Entertainment Community At this point I would ask what defines a banned HDD, but according to lordvader129, the banned HDD is banned at the same time the EEPROM is banned. |

When you replace the EEPROM.bin file with a new one, it doesn't matter if the hdd is married or not. The HDD can support what I call polygamy (more then one marriage). Although the EEPROM cannot support this. If the EEPROM has been married before, then replacing it would only cause another ban. You need a fresh, never before used EEPROM but anyone's unbanned HDD will work. After doing some research myself to make sure I wasn't overlooking you, I have realized that indeed if banned, a replacement of the HDD will need to take place as well. I will update this tutorial on the proper instructions in doing so. I have also came across a very helpful tutorial on how to make a backup CD of your HDD for future problems. Be on the lookout for that. Last edited by B-rad; 12-18-2008 at 12:02 AM. |
