Exclamation My Xbox Can not read burned DVD + Rs

I have a v1.2/v1.3 Xbox with XBMC Dashboard and I put a burned DVD + R in it and it will not load it but it loads CD - Rs and RWs, haven't tested CD + R and RWs, but not DVD + Rs but the DVD + Rs work in my friends Xboxes which are the same thing but they are v1.6.

What should I do to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

I honestly dont know. Try using a more hardcore dash like Avalaunch? Instead of that pus5y XBMC

Use a DVD-R? I think I had to do something like this to burn a copy of DSL. Either find a disc labeled DVD-R, or there may even be a way to FORCE a drive to burn a DVD+R to look like a DVD-R. Xbox drives are tricky.

I've also seen some drives that will read DVD-RW's.

Digital reminded me of something. What Drive do you have? If its phillips then poor you. It sucks. That may be your problem.

The drive is a Phillips but my friends drive is also a Phillips and it reads the DVD + Rs fine which confuses me. But he has v1.6 Xbox and I have v1.2/v1.3.

My DVD ROM drive is: Model: PHILLIPS J5 3235C Firmware: S32M

Do you think I could update the firmware on it and it would read them?

Thanks in advance.

I guess you could try flashing it if you want but softmods are supposed to run unsigned code anyways. But sure, you want a tut on it?

Thats what I have on my broken xbox Mine just died one day so I just rebuilt it with a 250gb HDD.

Initial searches haven't found much...I'm still looking around tho...

I happen to have a spare philips drive lying around for my Xbox1. I will see if I can't find some other kind of firmware out there that will work...

Edit: This may help!!!

You know...IDK what the numbers mean. Check the thread I posted with the full list, there's a passage in there about setting the booktype for the DVD you're burning...

I would like a tutorial on flashing it ForrrestMaster, and I would want to know how to reverse the effects of it if it went wrong for some reason. Or is there a way to upgrade to Xbox v1.6 from Xbox v1.2/1.3 or do you have to buy a new Xbox for that?

Re: My Xbox Can not read burned DVD + Rs

Sorry for posting extremely late like but I've had this problem fixed for a long time now. XD. All i had to do was tweak the ohms the xbox read at. Took me a full day to get it to work right. But worth the wait. XD
