| Retired Staff ![]() | Re: FTP To Slow The operating system has little to do with data transfer speeds when one is using a FTP client. Now, I have used Linux Ubuntu before and it had good networking capabilities but would I say changing your operating system benefit you in any way? No. The OS is a personal choice when transferring data is the job you wish to perform. (unless you are dealing with specific operating system functions such as remote access, which a Linux machine and Windows machine do not come equipped to do such a task but the task can be done but that is not the point of my answer here.) Now, would I say upgrade your NIC? Yes, of course. The speed the card reaches will ultimately determine how fast signals are transferred from the device to the cabling system to the client while cabling and the destination's hardware effect the process also. If you have any questions contact me on aim. Zorard2. Thanks. Last edited by l Gob l; 10-20-2009 at 12:03 AM. |
