help me? DOA ultimate, save problem, unleashx

I use unleashx and since modding, it won't load doa ultimate saves, says corrupted. anyone have this problem?

Did you mod the saves? Because there is no xbox softmod reason as to why that would have happened unless you modded the gamesave or the cache was cleared and something was lost.

no mod, did clear cashe. i will test now without clearing it. any other ideas?

just turned it on, made a save, played 1 game. turned it off and back on, checked save. it says save damaged or corrupted.

if i export my saves before turning the game off. the next time i turn it on i can sucessfully import them. so far that pain in the *** method is what i been using. only game that has given me this problem. its dead or alive 2 in the ultimate package thing.

still nothing, any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. It's really annoying because this makes it virtually impossible to unlock anything. As soon as you turn the game off, bam, your save is corrupt.

Now I know that the problem is with the game itself. Back when it was first released everyone talked about this whole save issue. Basically the problem was that if you made a profile while an ethernet cable was connected to your system, then came back into the game and tried to use that same profile while the ethernet cable was DISCONNECTED from the system, it would corrupt the save.

That doesn't explain why it's happening now though. It has to have something to do with the way the saves are being saved with the modded dashboards. I'd really love it if someone could find a way to fix this, or maybe has a suggestion on how to bypass it. I love this game more than anything and not being able to save, especially with all the unlockables and the time it takes to get them, is like a knife to the heart.

I'm sure we can find a way to fix this issue. Please guys, if you have any know how of a way to fix or bypass this problem, or just like this game in general, don't ignore this topic.

the bypass is a memory card. i have the action replay card, i used it to do the soft mod and i use it to store my doa save. only way is to import, play and then export when finished.

each time you want to play. and each time you are done.

stupid designers and their 2 minute dont pirate intro, and didnt know of a save glitch other than the moddedbox one. someone probably has to edit the game itself to fix it.

Hmm I softmodded my system the exact same way so I'll try to do the import/export thing when I get home. Is there an option in-game that allows you to import/export saves? That's probably a really stupid question but I'm just checking.

Also I'm going to keep working at this to try to find a fix. I've just finished making a mixed PAL/NTSC disk and I'll see if that comes back with any positive results. If not, I've heard that there's a few files on the actual disk that you can rename to boot it up differently.

For example right now the disk has a default.xbe, doa2.xbe and doa1.xbe. It boots the default.xbe by default, which launches doa2. I'm wondering if renaming default.xbe to 'default.xb' and renaming doa2.xbe to default.xbe will maybe fix the problem. It's a more direct way of launching the game so you never know. Without the middle man the saves may survive.

I'll get back to you later with any results though since I'm at work right now. When I get home I'm gonna test all this stuff. Thanks for the importing/exporting info though, that's at least a temporary solution to the problem

Okay, so I've messed around with this for a while (both with the original disk, which I own, and the files copied to UnleashX) and this is what I've come up with.

The game saves only survive if the game is launched from the MS Dashboard. You can go from the game to the UnleashX Dashboard perfectly fine, you can even go into the UnleashX save manager and do whatever, then turn off the system and start it with DOA2U in there and it'll load the game and the saves properly.

The only time the saves corrupt is if you launch the game directly from UnleashX, either using the Launch DVD option or choosing it from the Games menu. Even if you choose MS Dashboard from UnleashX and launch that first, the saves corrupt. I know none of this is really helpful, but I'm posting what I have so far so we can go from there. It's obviously something that UnleashX does differently compared to the MS Dashboard that's making everything mess up.

Maybe it's the FTP option or the fact that the LED is red. I know that's dumb and probably not the cause, but I'm just throwing that out there and I'm going to dig a bit deeper and mess with UnleashX's options to see what can make this thing work properly. Again, sorry for the slightly useless info, but like I said it's a stepping stone and I'll be really happy to get this fixed (I love the DOA series and this is by far my favorite game). I'll post again if I'm able to make a real breakthrough.

EDIT: Okay, here's something interesting. After making a profile (let's use 'Keo' as an example) go into your MS Dashboard saves manager and look at the save name. It'll be 'Keo'. Now go into your UnleashX saves manager and look at it. It says 'KeoX', the X being a little box. That has to be what's messing everything up, or at least that looks like it.

farther than i got. Fing shame all the developers got bored and left, unleashx, the emu's "which need compatability with HD or atleast a way of running on hd enabled xboxes and mimesis which was abandoned and kept barely alive by outside parties on a half broken forum.

and no one releases a way for others to continue the work.


i will be working on the game soon. doubt i can do anything, probably in the programming of which i have no knowledge. I can edit .xml's, thats about it... maybe i'll stumble on something

people need to allow others to continue work. its been years with these emu HD problems.

I FIXED IT!!! And holy crap is it easy to fix. This solution may not make any sense, but I swear to god it works.

First, get Enigmah Video Switcher (check the usual place) and put it on your Xbox as an application. Now run it, and switch the video mode from PAL to NTSC a few times (just press a and b a couple of times). Now set it back to NSTC and restart the Xbox. Run DOA, make a save, restart the box. Run DOA and the saves will work.

This is because of a problem with softmodded eeproms that this video switching thing fixes. I heard about this when I was trying to fix my Prince of Persia: Warriors Within game (which was running in slow motion). This method fixed that, it fixed my Super Monkey Ball Deluxe problem (that game wasn't running) and by the luck of god it fixed Dead or Alive 2 O_o.

Just be sure that Enigmah is set to NTSC before you restart the Xbox, or you could be royally screwed (unless of course you have a PAL Xbox/TV). W00t!!!

awsome, got it. too late to ftp it but its good. will give results ASAP. damn job take all time.


next project is fixing the damn emu's and allowing some sort of bypass to turn HDD on and off easily, or getting someone to make them HDD compatible. ridiculous because the xbox was ED compatible to begin with, the people should have built upon the expectation that the problem would arise.

Edit: then its another xbox rom addition for GBA, some pokemon hacks.
And an updated backup of the HDD before buying a new one, and a new DVD drive. plus 2 replacement boxes before they dissapear like the dreamcast, so i'll always have an xbox. like my old atari2600

I've had this same problem with a 360 game save, DOA 4... Maybe DOA gamesaves don't work?

also, forza wont come up in 480p like it says its able to play as. my other games do. even some that arnt labeled as being ED compatable. "enhanced definition"
