I have the highest xplorer360. and Partition 4 was still gone.

I couldn't reformat, because xboxhdm would'nt let me rebuild the partition table because it wouldn't unlock the HDD. So i bought a new, bigger one, used xboxhdm to "BUild Xbox HDD from scratch", got it partitioned, but i can't lock the HDD.

Re: New HDD Problem

Well when you finally get this right then you will have a E: partition and your DVD-ROM will work correctly.

You can always use "XBpartitioner" to fix your missing partition problem.

Then reformat old HDD with no eeprom in the folder, The eeprom will already be built into the HDD.

Re: New HDD Problem

Hotswap it. Boot up your xbox with the IDE cable for your DVD drive unplugged, and then when it gets to error 12 then you can plug it into your comp and boot up Xboxhdm.

Re: New HDD Problem

Why have we come to the conclusion of Hotswapping and Reformating your OLD HDD? How are you not able to lock your new HDD? Have you tired what we have suggested?

You should do your research before attempting things like this, because there is ALWAYS problems.

I have the OLD HDD plugged into the computer, and it still says "Security locked: yes" i try HDUNLOCK, it says device is not ready, i try UNLOCKX, and it says "HDD Locked...(and Lockable), and then it says "cannot unlock. Aborting!", i try option 3 on the main menu, do unlockhd, and it doesn't change anything.

Because what you suggested is for me to get another copy of my eeprom.bin, because according to you, my eeprom is bad, so i must restore my old HDD to install a softmod on it (EvoX), and then backup the eeprom, and then take that eeprom, reburn it onto a new xboxhdm disc, and then lock the NEW HDD with the NEW eeprom. So i can't get a new eeprom (as you guys suggested) until i restore my old HDD which I can't unlock to rebuild the e partition on it, and i can't burn an xiso file with config magic, or xbpartitioner, because i have no E partition to read the disc.

That's what I was saying in one of my other posts. The drives go into a frozen state sometimes and you can't lock/unlock. You have to go into your PC BIOS and switch a setting:

When you get into the bios it will look something like this
Click the image to open in full size.

Change this auto setting by selecting it and pressing the + key on your keyboard until you get to user. Your screen will look like this.

Click the image to open in full size.

When you have user selected save and exit out of the bios menu, restart xboxhdm and try to lock/unlock then.

Re: New HDD Problem

Yeah I told him to reformat his Old HDD because he said the E partition is missing. That way he can get a new copy of his eeprom and so on...

Re: New HDD Problem

OK, i follow the hotswap method, and i get error 12, like im supposed to, but when i load VGA mode, it still says that my HDD is locked, which doesn't give me the ability to reformat my HDD. Anyother ways to reformat?
