Unanswered: Dashboard Problem

OK, So i previously softmodded my XBox. Everything worked great. And so my cousin decided to bring over a disc that had a bunch of modded Halo 2 maps on it. I asked if he followed the tutorial on this site, and he said yes. This was his first attempt at doing it, but i decided to believe him that he did it correctly. Big mistake. The second it loaded the disc, it cycled through every error screen, and then the screen went black and the XBox started making an annoying high pitched noise.

So I unplug it, he says it was my fault that i "didn't mod it correctly" yet i was the one that modded his. So then i plug it back in, and i get a dashboard, just not the right one. I get the XBox Live dashboard. and i can't go back to the MS Dashboard because everytime i press a button, it just brings me back to the same screen. After using the disc, it unsoftmodded itself, and now i can't get to the game saves to re-mod it.

Any ideas on how to get the original Dashboard back? I saw the tutorial on using the computer to burn a disk, swap out the HD's, and restore it to factory default, but i have alot of game saves on it, and i really don't want to re format it.

No, it can read burnt discs. My cousin just didn't know what he was doing. he didn't do the last step before making the iso.

Ok, so i read the guide. will the xplorer360 allow me to read the HD from the computer? Because when i try to access the HD normally through the Device manager, it recognizes it as a device, but it doesn't allow me to actually view what's inside it. Also, i don't technically get an error, it's just that i go to the XBox Live screen, instead of the main dashboard. I can still play games, i just can't get to the main screen.

Re: Dashboard Problem

Xplorer is used to look inside xbox HDDs and it shouldn't matter if you get an error.

So basically Xplorer is Windows Explorer, but instead of reading fat32 drives, it reads fatx drives?

Re: Dashboard Problem

OK I fixed it. But now i have a new problem. In the process of moving the files from the tutorial, it deleted partition 4, which is the E: drive aka where the game saves go. so no i don't have game savees and i can't play games. how can i remake partition 4?

Re: Dashboard Problem

Damn, Your Shadow C may have deleted it. Google xplorer360 and get one of the newer ones and see if it is still there. Shadow C on the C drive does that. Hopefully you willnot have to reformat.

Re: Dashboard Problem

i had a similar problem with dashboards: if you even see the xbox live reformating the harddrive screen (with green bar) you have to use splintercell and re-mod your xbox.

make a new file in E:/backup/whateveryouwant/(your stuff) and copy your stuff you need into there so it doesnt get deleted and use the softmod installer to get your modded dash back to normal.

worked for me when my dash started screwing up
