Softmod with blank CD

One thing..it says the CD/DVD drive should be in the secondary master or whatever.
Does it have to be? I'm not sure where the desktop one is but it hasn't been moved or added to since we bought it.

I doubt you will have to move it. Once you burn that disc you need.. Just disconnect the hard drives from your computer. Boot your PC from that disc you burned, and hot swap the xbox hard drive over. You shouldnt need to move anything around with cd drive especially if you have never moved it before.

I have to say your gona be happy once your done doing this mod.. This is the first time ive ever done anything like this as far as modding.. And i just downloaded a game and transferred it to my xbox and im playing it right now haha.. Its really cool.. I know this is old news to alot of people but its new for me haha..

Where's the updated backup script I need to download? There's no links in the first page..

And this part here:
"Method 1: You have both the Xbox and PC hooked up as normal. You will use the Xbox power supply to supply the power to the Xbox hard drive. In order to make up for the floating point ground, you will connect a wire with alligator clips from the PC metal case chassis to the metal Xbox chassis to short out any possible extra voltage and keep them equal."
etc...

Do I need to do that? I have no idea what alligator clips are..

Umm.. I dont think so.. I never did that and the tutorial i used didnt say anything about that. Alligator clips are just clips that go on the ends of wires so its easy to connect and disconnect them from things.. I dont suggest messing with the power supply and connecting anything to it. Thats prolly gona give you problems..

To hotswap to your xbox use my error fixing tutorial. It will tell you how to hotswap and what to do once you have hotswaped.

I know how to hot swap and i did look at that tutorial and that did work putting the hard drive on the connector for the cd drive and i got into with the xplorer 360 i tihnk it was.. and it said it wa copying to it but it wont work. I am trying to copy my c drive back to the xbox and nothing will copy to the c drive anymore. the other partitions work fine to FTP stuff to but not C. I would like to be able to switch between unleashx and the MS dash board like i was at first before i accidently deleted some ****. I had to redo the mod thing and it only installed the unleashx dash. That works fine but no MS dash.. Any way i can get stuff to copy back to the c drive? I have everything backed up to my PC. I FTPed it all once it was working how i wanted..

Yeah. Thats because once you FTP the Shadow C kicks in because I can almost guarentee its installed. If you want to bypass it then use my bypassing shadow C tut.

Hey Forrest, thanks so much for posting this nice tutorial.

I had a few questions. First, when I hotswap, I'm simply disconnecting the IDE cable from the xbox HD and connecting my computers, correct?

Also, once it's totally done, will NDURE install a custom dashboard like UnleashX or EvoX? Or does it come with its own?

I'm basically stuck on what to do after the softmod, like how to install programs. I know I can FTP them, so once I'm done with the softmod, the FTP should work?

Well, let me straighten a few things up. I did not write this exact tutorial. This way is a little outdated and has many errors.

But to answer your questions.

1. You unplug the IDE cable from your xbox hdd and attach it to your comp when the xbox is unlocked. Use my tutorial to help.

Just dont reformat it. Use the xplorer option and put all the files from the disc into the appropriate folders.

2. It uses UnleashX.
