How to Softmod your Xbox with SID 4.0

I just softmodded my xbox for the first time. This guide made it very simple even though it's pretty clear within SID 4.0. I am having a problem with UnleashX though. When I boot the xbox up, it flashes an unleashx logo, then the screen appears black and the ring appears red. Before this, it didn't turn red and i'm not 100% sure that's a problem anyway. However, I don't know what to do when it sits at this blank black screen. I'm currently uninstalling and reinstalling to see if that does anything. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer...

Good news. I reinstalled and I am now at the unleashx screen : )

can someone explain to me very breifly wat is a softmod, and in wat way will it benifit me???

The Red Ring on the xbox is normal for softmodded xbox's. Its what the standard modded color is and you can change it any time under setting in the UnleashX dash.

Softmod is the modification of files in the xbox to change a game or multiple games for your pleasure (a.k.a. halo 2).

The benefits of softmodding are that it is fun, and way easier and less dangerous/expensive then hardmodding and its a good experience. Search "halo 2 mods" on youtube to see what you can do as a modder and you will understand more.

It's not hard at all. If monkey's could read, they could mod xbox's. If you read EVERYTHING I've written, it will be a breeze. But when you start skipping paragraphs like a lot of the people in this thread that couldn't get it to work right, then you will run into problems like they did. Just be patient and read the whole tutorial.

Hey guys. I'm stuck in analysis paralysis. I recently bought a used XBox solely for the purpose of softmodding and installing XBMC. I've got an Action Replay and copies of both Splinter Cell and Mech Assault. I think my XBox is a 1.6 or 1.6b. It seems like there are a million softmod options out there. I don't care about XBox Live or upgrading my hard drive. For my needs (XBMC), what softmod installer should I use? Thanks.

Hey Azzid, is this possible to do with an XPort, because I really don't want to buy AR. I can find the gamesaves for Splinter Cell, etc. just fine, but I'm wondering if it will even work.

P.S. I have the adapter for the XBox original cards.

As long as you can get the gamesaves to your xbox hdd, IDC how you do it

Anything above SID4.0 is good. I think 5.0 is out, I've been "out of the scene" for a while now. Krayzies 1.1.1 will work too, and I have a tutorial on how to do that as well.

is there any way to reformat an xbox harddrive without turning it on?... i followed the instructions, but when i turn on the xbox it does the green blob thing then goes black and stays

quick question. i plugged in my usb memory card into my computer and it doesnt register on my AR program meaning it doesnt say anything under the memory card column. any advice? please pm me

Yea, I'm having the same problem as chaos, also, when i scroll over the AR program on the bottom right of the screen, it says: "The USB device failed to enumerate." Any help??
