| This is a tutorial on softmodding your xbox, using SID4, the best softmod installer in my opinion to date. SID4 (Softmod Installer Deluxe) had recently been released to the public. Note: I did not create the files. It is the best softmod installer in my opinion to date. It is 99% noob proof. The only way you will mess up is if you use file explorer in your modded dash and delete files. So don't worry it is very very very rare that you will mess up. It comes with on screen instructions to guide you through. "As you all know, SID 4 is part of a new breed of softmods, taking full advantage of modern tools, patchers, exploits that are created by their respectful makers. What is has changed from SID 3 to SID4? Basicly everything, you'll get more "to the point" installing options, more flexibility, you choose if you want to single boot to just load mod and go on with your fun, or have dual boot to either boot gamesave, or boot to retail mode to go on xbox live using all new Ndure (Ndure was previouly created by other ppl, this is not an invention here, and some credits will go to Kingroach from XS, since his files were used for reference. FEATURES: --------- - Dual Boot Option based around the disk drive -NTSC, PAL support. -ShadowC drive (used on all by default) -Virtual EEPROM (used on all by default) -Unofficial Nkpatcher 11 (used, and exploted to the max!) 1.- choice of boots? -single boot/dash. Simply boot your softmod, as easy as it is. -dual boot/open=gamesave. Closed tray will load softmod while open will load SID4 Menu (no safety mounts)" This means that it is 100% xbox live safe. You boot up through the open disc button, and it patches back your MS Dash allowing you to play on live without a modded dash and getting banned. To boot your modded dash you just power up with the on button. It allows you to choose between Evox and UnleashX. Now to the tutorial. You will need: The SID4 Files (Hosted here on this site) A PC A memory card (AR preferably) One of 3 games. All original (although the platinum SC does work) Mechassualt, 007 AUF, or Splinter Cell And a Xbox (obviously lol) 1: Download the SID4 file to you desktop. Don't unzip it or anything. 2: Once it had downloaded to your PC, open up the file. There should be 6 files. A read me, a SID4 launcher file, a mechassualt loader, SC loader PAL, SC loader NTSC, and a 007 loader. You will need to drag the SID4 launcher file and the game file of which ever game your using. (SC NTSC if your XBOX is made in the US. Just read your manual, it will say). 3: Once you have draged the SID4 launcher file and your game loader file onto the AR (Action Replay) or memory card take it to your xbox and put it into a controller slot. Load up your xbox without a game in it, and select "memory" off of the Dashboard. Then scroll over to "memory card" and push "A." Scroll over to the first save and select copy --> yes. Then go to the second and select copy --> yes. 4: Turn your xbox off. (You can leave your memory card in it or take it out.) 5: Turn your xbox on, then put your game in. For 007 select: Load Mission --> Xbox Hard Drive --> 007 Launcher File (from game saves) Splinter Cell: Start Game --> Linux --> Checkpoints Mechassualt: Campaign --> Run Linux Each of the last steps will bring you to the SID4 screen. 6: It has the following options: Create EEPROM Backup Create MS Backup Create Mod Backup Restore MS Backup Restore Mod Backup Delete MS Backup Delete Mod Backup Install Softmod Uninstall Softmod *Again, remember, it is pracitcally noob proof, will guide you through the steps, and won't let you continue if you don't backup something important or do something important. It will also tell you what you need to do. First select Create EEPROM Backup. It will guide you through backing up your EEMPROM. You just have to click yes once or twice throughout it. Then you will select Create MS Backup. Again you will only have to press yes once or twice. Once you have done that, select Install Softmod. Follow the onscreen instructions, they will guide you. It will ask you what boot option you want. Read the Readme to learn about those. Then it will ask you which Dash you want, Evox or UnleashX. I like UnleashX. Then it will ask you if you want to install. Click yes and let it run. 7: It will then ask you to turn off your xbox and then turn it on to finish the install. Follow the instructions. Turn it off with the game disc in, turn it back on, and then follow the instrcutions (its like push A once) to complete the installing of the softmod. Then you are done. You can change the skins if you want. ( You don't have to). Last edited by Siege Soldier; 03-24-2006 at 02:10 PM. | ||||||
