Materials Needed: * Softmodded Xbox (look in the softmodding tutorials section if you dont have one) * FTP client (ex. Flash FXP, this is the computer program that lets you set an interface between you computer and your Xbox) FlashFXP - Free Software Downloads and Software Reviews - Download.com * CROSSOVER CABLE (This is the most common mistake, people thinking they dont need a cross over cable, it needs to be a CROSSOVER cable, get it at Ofice Max or Best Buy) * Computer with FTP program installed in it. Procedure: Step 1, Make sure you Xbox is in the softmodded dashboard, ex. Unleash X, Evolution X. And that your crossover cable has one end plugged into the back of your xbox, and the other end to your computer Step 2, Go to the MS (Microsoft) dashboard, go to Settings > Network settings, and make sure that the IP address is set to AUTOMATIC. Step 3, Ok this part is kinda confusing so stay with me, run the softmod installer (as if you were installing you softmod for the first time) then go to dashboard settings > network, and the 4th option down should say "Type" Change whatever it is to STATIC. Save by hitting the Save button on the bottom. Then restart your Xbox and stay on your softmodded dashboard. Step 4, On your computer, go to the Start menu and click on Control Panel, click on Network and Internet conections, Network Conections, then right-click on Local Area Conection, and choose properties, there sould be a little square in which you can scroll down, scroll down until you see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), choose that (do not uncheck it!) once its highlighted in blue click properties, mark the option that says: Use the following IP address. In the little box write 192.168.0.4 as your IP address, and 255.255.255.0 as your Subset Mask. Step 5, Open up your FTP program (I will be using Flash FXP as an expamle, the link is featured above). The screen should be divided in two by a line going down the middle. (Note: the files on your left are the files on your computer. The files on your right are the files on your Xbox). On the right side there should be a button with a little lightning bolt on it, click it and choose Quick Connect. A new window should come up, as the "Server or URL" type in your Xbox IP adress. (NOTE: The way of knowing your IP adress is to go to system settings/management in your softmodded dashboard and looking for "IP Adress:"). For user Name type in "xbox" without the quotes and same for password. Make sure Port says "21" and Anonymous in unchecked. Click connect. Step 6, If everything went right you should see five folders (C, E, X, Y, Z) come up on the right side of the screen that correspond to your Xbox. If you see this then you are connected!. Final Part: Getting the Halo 2 multiplayer maps from your Xbox: Once the folders show up, open the E folder by double-clicking it, then open the TDATA folder by double-clicking it, next find and open the folder 4d530064, it should have two folders inside it, open $c. Inside $c there are three more folders, these folders contain the Halo 2 multiplayer maps that you can mod: - 4d53006400000001: Containment and Warlock. - 4d53006400000002: Deltatap (Sanctuary) and Turf - 4d53006400000003: Backwash, Dune (Relic), Elongation, Gemini, and Triplicate (Terminal) (NOTE: The files with the extension .map are the actual maps.) Now, to transfer the maps from your Xbox to your computer minimize all your windows and right-click on your desktop, select New and then Folder. Name that folder "New Maps". On your Flash FXP window, on the left, click Parent Directory until you reach Desktop, there you should see the folder "Clean Maps" you created earlier, open it, it should be empty. Ok , time to transfer the maps. On the right side, open the first of the three folders that have the maps in them and right-click continment.map and hit transfer, it should be copied to the left, do the same with warlock.map and with all the .map files on the other two folders. You should now have a copy of all the maps from your Xbox in your computer. Please keep reading. Extra: Backing up your file folders (maps): In order to always be able to return your maps to an original state you need to back the up. Follow these next instructions to do so. Minimize all your windows again and follow the same procedure to create a folder in your desktop except this time name it "Usable Maps". COPY all the contents from "Clean Maps" to to "Usable Maps". Whenever you apply mods to a map use the maps fro the "Usable Maps". This way, you will always have a CLEAN UNMODDED copy of your maps in the "Clean Maps" folder. Make sure you never mess with the the maps in the "Clean Maps" folder to keep them clean. If at any point you dont want or need mods on the maps in your Xbox just FTP (transfer) the maps in the "Clean Maps" folder in the CORRESPONDING folders in your Xbox. | ||||||
