So what do you get on this release?
The following Options will be aviable, yet it's restrictions will be mentioned.
1.- choices of boots?
single boot/dash. Simply boot your softmod, as easy as it is.
-dual boot/open=gamesave. Closed tray will load softmod while open will load SID4 Menu (no safety mounts)
-dual boot/open=retail(ndure).Power up with Closed tray will load softmod while power up with open will load in retail state, patching back Microsoft key, allowing you to pop in an original xbox live! enabled game and go safely online.
Ok, the following will explain a bit of it's works, and how your gonna look at your choices.
1.- First of all and must, you will have to backup eeprom with the option from menu. If you dont' do this installation WILL NOT succeed, and it's scripted to do so, so please don't comeback saying, i got an error.
Please read onscreen directions and you'll be fine.
2.- Must have a retail MS Backup done. Why?, if you don't have a Retail, Non-modded MS backup done, you won't be able to install any softmod, backup modded C, nor uninstall softmod, this is done for the installer to complete task without errors, and making sure you get the correct result.
3.- SID 4 comes with smart scripting Example: Will not install if your eeprom and MS backups aren't found. When backing up your MS dash, if will make sure it's not modded, or else you can't backup, since it's no longer retail, will make sure MS backup is present before doing changes or deleting all files on C to install softmod, will ask you, warn you, and message you, on most of the task that must be, or need to be completed.
Now to the Super Features that makes SID 4 the best softmod in Existance.
-when you run your softmod, led will be RED, this indicated that softmod is active.
-when you run SID 4 Installer Menu, your led will be ORANGE, this is so you know what's running.
-when you get rescuedash\default.xbe you can restore the way the mod was before you messed up. -When you are in retail mode (Ndure or not modded), than it's just standard GREEN.
-when leds cycle colors, is either your AV cable is not on, or dash targets aren't found
When the dashboard targets aren't found, it will boot to rescuedash\default.xbe, allowing all mounts to be inactive, so if you see this cycle, please take out any discs you migth have, and do what you get on screen, so you can restore your mod before you messed it up. If you ever get this is cause you either deleted you dashboard, renamed it, or formated your hdd, which is not good to do
*SID 4 Softmods are made that if you format your HDD ,delete something necessary or are a noob, you won't loose valuable files on true C drive, and have to hotswap to rescue*
-Virtual EEPROM is enabled with the following features.
This is why you must backup your eeprom upon installing your softmod, cause then we take your reall eeprom backup, copy it, and patch it for the use of nkpatcher 11 system, to mount it, so when ever an application calls for xbox eeprom, it will load from file, and not your real eeprom, since we patch the eeprom to null hdd key, and xbox live key, and other important info, tools like Config Magic fail to unlock your hdd, in this case making sure you don't accidently end up with "ERROR 05".
*SID 4 WILL AUTOMATICLY do this for you, but you must make sure you choose your Region on Menu Select.
If your in the
US, CANADA, MEXICO, you should be
NTSC, If your
elsewhere, your most likely to be
PAL, JAPAN could be NTSC, while
UK, and
AUSTRALIA is
PAL*
-You get to choose between Evox and UnleashX as Dashboards.
NOTE:
-SID 4will only support 3 dash tagets, e:\dash\default.xbe, e:\dashboard\default.xbe and e:\evoxdash.xbe, so make sure when you use a disc to install you dashboard, choose E, now using AID, make sure you install to E:\evoxdash.xbe -single boot - it will load only 1 dashboard regardless if you pressed power on or open tray... sort of like when you xbox had ms dsah it would load it either way. -dual boot - to be able to load 2 diffrent dashboards , EXAMPLE: power it on with open tray can load EvoXwhile powering it on with closed tray will load UnleashX -ShadowC- just hides your real C files , so that you can't break your mod so if you dont see noting on C do not worry. -NTSC-Short for National Television System Committee, is used in US, CANADA ,MEXICO, JAPAN and KOREA could be NTSC -PAL-Short for Phase Alternating Line is used in UK,AUSTRALLA and everywhere else where NTSC is not used in. -VIRTUAL EEPROM- makes a fake eeprom so it will take your reall eeprom backup, copy it, and patch it for the use of nkpatcher 11 system, to mount it, so when ever an application calls for xbox eeprom, it will load from file, and not your real eeprom, since we patch the eeprom to null hdd key, and xbox live key, and other important info, tools like Config Magic fail to unlock your hdd, in this case making sure you don't accidently end up with "ERROR 05".
RECOMENDATIONS:
-I do not recommend -dual boot/open=gamesave. Closed tray will load softmod while open will load SID4 Menu (no safety mounts)
-I defitanlly recommend Unleash X not EvoX due to the fact that is very buggy when ftping and has few features compared to Unleash X
-I do not recommend sid 4.0 for pal users , insted they can use sid 4.5
-I recommend sid 4.0 for people that feel a bit newbish or dont want to worry of thier xbox mod breaks. and that are NTSC xbox users

PROBLEMS. 1.- I can't get gamesaves into the memory card with Action Replay?
A.- Make sure you have original Microsoft Memory card or another brand that it's known to work, not all memory cards will allow files that's aren't game related to be added, like zips, rars and non-xbox default files. Also make sure you drag and drop 2 zips, the SID4 Launcher.zip and your game of choice, and you'll add both gamesaves to your xbox, since the launcher are the files that install the softmod, and the other gamesaves are to boot to Launcher, so no launcher and gamesave can lead to ERROR 21, black screen, or MS Dash reboot.
2.- I get just a black screen when i boot it.
A.- make sure you only do it to retail xbox, that means no other softmods installed, if you have a previous softmod install, remove it and leave C in retail, all other files will not be affected, also make sure that's the only gamesave you have, and no other gamesaves in hdd of that 1 game your using . Another issue is that if you are trying to boot SID 4 when running modded from SID 2 or other PBL based softmod, it will lead to freeze or black screen, this is due to the fact that PBL doesn't allow nkpatcher to load, PLEASE BE IN RETAIL!
You cannot boot SID 4, or anyother kind of Nkpatcher System if your xbox has a Flashed tsop with hacked bios like X2, EvoxM?, or any other, nkpatcher will only patch retail bioses, and it will not do anything on others, but the led color if, and same goes for Modchips.
3. I can't install any of the softmods in SID 4!!!
A.- Did you read the manual? Did you read the on-screen warnings?, It WILL NOT INSTALL if you don't have a retail MS Backup and eeprom made by the installer.
4.- I can't install the Ndure.
A.- Once again, did you read things right?, you CANNOT install unless you have MS Dash 5960 Installed on true C before install.
5.- I successfully installed SID 4, but i can't use the retail mode to go on xbox live.
A.- It should work, as it's proven to work, make sure you power on the xbox with EJECT BUTTON so it loads retail mode, wait till it loads MS Dash, and put game disc in, after ingame sign in with an already made xbox live! gamer tag account. YOU CANNOT MAKE AN ACCOUNT AFTER YOUR MODDED.
It's also recomended you set your Network Settings on MS Dash before you install the Ndure softmod, to ensure that you can connect to Xbox Live!, if you try to troubleshoot the network with xbox MS Dash, it will try to update your dashboard, leading to a fail updated, and causing your xbox boot to error 21 when your try to run retail mode.
To fix the error 21 after this mistake, you simply coldboot your game to install SID 4, and you'll uninstall SID 4, make any network changes, etc, then install SID 4 again, this way all your settings must be save.
I seem to found a weird fix for this problem, and it's to set your network to DHCP in your UnleashX dash or Evox dash, when your modded, and when you boot in retail mode, it allows you to not run into this problem.
6.- Why do i have to set my clock every time i power on the xbox?
A.- You should only have to set it once after softmod is installed, and only after you unplugg after 4 hours. So make sure YOU SET YOUR CLOCK, and press "A" to save it to xbox, then IGR or power off, and on so it takes effects, that way you shoudln't have to set your clock again, unless of course you cut power for more than 4 hours.
7.- When i ftp i can see F and G, but i can't access them.
A.- You cannot access to what you dont' have, by default SID 4 is set to enable both of these so you don't have to worry about updating your lb48 patch etc, some xbox stock hdds have F, some have G, the only real way to know if you have an F, is by using file explorer with UnleashX or SID 4, and if you see F you have it, if you don't see F, then you don't!
8.- When i boot retail mode, all i get is a hang, and black screen.
A.- Make sure that ms dash was not modded at all, but here's a manual solution if you have this.
-Boot SID 4, use the file manager, go to C, and look for the file called: settings_adoc.xip, make sure you don't have it in C, or C:\xboxdashdata185ead00, this can make it hang, also this file is to be deleted automaticly by the installer, and it's also the reason why you must set your clock when you boot you xbox after the install of SID 4.
9.- When i boot Ndure retail mode, all looks good, but i choose the xbox live tab from MS Dash and it goes to a black screen.
A.- Simply is cause xbox live tab from ms dash loads it's own dash files from C:\xodash, but that's where the exploit fonts are located, so if you choose that it will freeze cause it will try to load the fonts again, leading to wanting to boot softmod, which will end up freezing, you will also get a black screen if you try to PUT A BACKUP GAME when running Ndure. In no way Ndure allows you to run backups in Xbox Live!. Use ****MS for that, but we will not help you do this, and you can get into serious problems and get your credit card blacklisted if caught.
- Always sign in to xbox live from ingame, not from MS Dash.
10.- I get "BATCH PROCESS FAILED"!!!
A.- Then simply you need to re-read this thread and understand it
GETTING A MS DASH ERROR? both evox, and unleashX try to run MS Dashboard from "msdash.xbe"
-forgot to fix it to load xboxdash.xbe, since it's in virtual partition, and files aren't modded, virtual partition has clean ms dash.
FIX!:, ftp to xbox, look in either E:\evox.ini if running evox, or E:\Config.xml if runnig UnleashX, and edit the file to look in xboxdash.xbe
FIX!2?: ftp to xbox, and travel to C, and rename xboxdash.xbe to msdash.xbe <<<LOT EASIER.
