Networking the XBOX

So you've modded your xbox but want to add new apps or modify settings. To do this you are going to need to be able to FTP. This tutorial will explain how to network the xbox and your PC together so you may edit the files that are currently on the xbox.
Necessary Equipment:

1. Computer with an Ethernet Port (most new computers have them, but if you still have a dial-up modem you can buy a ethernet card at best buy for under $20)
2. 1. Cross-Over Cable or Xbox System Link Cable
   2. Hub/Switch/Router and a Ethernet Cable (this is what you need if you want you internet and xbox connected at the same time)
3. FTP Client (for this tutorial I will be using SmartFTP)

FTPing the Xbox:

1. Connect the xbox to your PC using the cross-over cable or the ethernet cable.
2. Turn on your modded xbox and look for the IP address found in the settings or the upper right hand corner depending on your skin.
3. In SmartFTP under address put your xbox's IP address (192.168.0.3/ in my case), "xbox" for the login, and
   "xbox" again for the password

1. You should then see six to eight folders: C, D, E, F (?), G(?), X, Y, Z.
   1. Main Xbox Partition - Stores all the xbox's system files.
   2. DVD-Drive - Since most PCs can't read xbox game disc you would use this to copy game files to you computer.
   3. Secondary Partition - Holds gamesave data and is a good place to store any apps or games.
   4. Third Partition - If you upgrade you hard drive, this is where all the extra space goes.
   5. Forth Partition - Some bios can only read 137GBs so after the F partition uses all its space this partition will be made, but in most cases this is not needed.
   6. Temp File Partition - Used to store game files when a game is being played. Most game files are compressed therefore the uncompressed files are read from this drive.

I know this, but I'm confused about emulators and roms and how they work on the xbox.

Like where to get them and how to install them. I mean I know sorta but it never works.

Alright...so you know what they are, just don't know what to do with them. You can get .exe's for computers or you can get the xbox ones that are .xbe's......anyhoo, enough jibberish....
1. Go to xbins and download the emulator of your choice.

2. Next, put all the main file into one folder, and name the folder the name of the emulator.

3. FTP to your xbox. Then go to your apps folder or your emulators folder, and put your emulator folder in the apps or emulator folder.

4. On your computer open the .ini of the emulator and look at the top few lines to see where your ROMS (games) should go.

Then, download the roms of your choice ( www.romhustler.net) and put them into the correct folder.

Stop FTP. Reboot. Enjoy
