![]() ![]() | [Tutorial] How to Take Your Xbox Apart ..::::..ATTENTION..::::.. I am not responsible for what happens to you/your xbox during what you do with this tutorial, and by taking your xbox apart, you are voiding your xbox's warranty. ..::::..ATTENTION..::::.. Madman's Tutorial: Taking apart your Xbox Tools Needed:
![]() Step 1) Removing your Case Top. ![]() If you flip your case over, you will notice 4 feet. These 4 feet cover up one screw each. Remove the feet to get to the screws, and under 2 stickers are 2 more screws. Remove the stickers, or just punch a hole where the screws are, and remove all 6 screws. ![]() (screws are in the darkened circles) Now flip your case over, careful as to not let it fall apart, and then carefully lift the case top up, it will slide off. ![]() Step 2a) Detaching your Hard Disc Drive. After you have lifted off your case top, you will notice 2 devices; the Dvd Drive, and the Hard Drive. Now look for the 3 screws that are holding the Dvd Drive and the Hard Drive to the rest of the case. ![]() (Screw locations are marked with bulls-eyes) These Screws require you to use the 10 torx screwdriver, as a 20 torx is too big. take them off now. Now, you will see 2 wires connected to the back of the hard drive, take them out. ![]() Before lifting out your Hard Drive, make sure the power cable (not the ribbon cable) is taken completely out, as it is meshed into the hard drive case. ![]() Now after that is done, carefully lift the hard drive up, and it will be completely detached of the xbox console. ![]() Step 2b) Detaching your Dvd Drive. now, onto the dvd drive. detach the wires connected to it in the back. ![]() now carefully lift out the dvd drive. ![]() There we go, now both the Dvd Drive, and the Hard Drive are detached. Step 3) Removing the Controller Ports and Daughterboard. you will see in the front of your xbox, 2 port holders, lift the back end of them up and then slide it forward. now lift it out. ![]() your controller ports should look similar to this: (minus the LED's and resistors, and with metal casing) ![]() now you will have found out your controller ports were connected to something that looked like this: ![]() that is the daughterboard, which is connected to the motherboard. this can be removed too, so go ahead and wiggle that off. Step 4) Removing the Motherboard. There are 11 screws in total holding the motherboard in place, remove them. the screw's locations are located in the following picture: ![]() Now carefully lift up the end closest to the front of your xbox (near the power button) now pull it out so the plugs in the back are out all the way. now lift up and pull the motherboard out. ![]() Step 5) Removing the Fan and PSU. Take your flathead screwdriver and put it as is in the picture: ![]() now pull the handle end down, and it should get loose. keep doing that on both sides until you get it out. (note: the fan is also hooked on to the side of the case, at the top back of the fan) Removing the PSU; the PSU stand for Power Supply Unit. ....::::::::::CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH the middle area of the PSU, it can hold potential for electricution::::::::::::.... The PSU luckily only has 2 screws holding it in place. remove them and then take the PSU out by the large bounded wires. ![]() Step 6) Congratulatory Pat on the Back Take hand and slap the back of your opposite shoulder repeatedly, as you are done. (if you want to get to the power and eject button then just remove the metal casing and you should be able to get at it) ![]() | |||||||||
