Simple LED in memory card

Well is my first "custom" mod with my xbox, I have followed plenty of tutorials on doing stuff and I havnt seen this done before. So I figured I write a small tutorial.

Finished product:
Click the image to open in full size.

Things needed:
*Phillips screwdriver
*3mm LED (any color)
*Something that can cut through plastic (I used my pocket knife)
*Soldering iron
*Solder
*Hot glue gun

1. First off you ar going to want to open your memory unity by unscrewing the two screws on the back.

2. Next you are going to want to make a small hole just big enough to put the tip of the led into on you memory card, It dosnt really matter where. Mine is on the top front.

3. Now apply some hot glue on the inside to keep the led from falling out or moving around.

4. Ok the wiring is very simple, just solder a small peice of wire from one pin to the ground and solder another peice of wore from the other pin to the +5v.

All thats left is to reasemble it and test it out. Here Is another pic of the final product.

That would look really good if you got a clear case for it and then linned the back with tinfoil for reflection.

Re: Simple LED in memory card

This is pretty sweet, i just got done doing some of it, im out of wire so i need too go get some tomorrow, but i thought this was kinda cooler then what you did exactly.
Instead of drilling a hole in the top, i peeled off the rubber thing that says 8mb, and then i took a hair dryer too the back of it and peeled off the silver sticker, so now the 8mb thing is see through, then i just drilled a hole under the rubber thing, now i just need a small led and some wire. nice tut.
